Global Warming not down to the Sun ! Its all us kiddies ;)

I'm with Monty Burns on this one:

Oooh, so Mother Nature needs a favor?! Well maybe she should have thought of that when she was besetting us with droughts and floods and poison monkeys! Nature started the fight for survival, and now she wants to quit because she's losing. Well I say, hard cheese

I do if they expect me to pay for it..

I dont mind paying for certain things, ie if we were to switch to wind farms to reduce the amount of air pollution then thats fine as long as its decided on a balanced and logical manner.

Its just the way we are getting bullied into change because of the global warming theory that gets on my nerves.

I guess people may accept a tax to save the planet from destruction a little easier than one that would just improve air pollution though.

That would come down to the questioning on your part then . With hold your cash . counter their evidence !!

Ok I withhold my cash and debate it with the Taxman..
He either
A.Listens to my reasons and agree I may have a point.. or
B. sends me to jail

Every piece of so called evidence has an equal and opposite piece of counter evidence..

The only fact that is non-debateable is that the theory of global warming as a result of human interaction is not proved.

Until it is I wish they would stop discussing it in the media like it is indisputable, and when it has been proven all we need to do is put Bruce Willis into a space ship or something and he will save the planet anyway.

C Get a small group of like minded people together . Find loop holes and gaps in their system (i believe for instance the finacillay savey have been screwing HR Customs for years ;) ) Also they got a big smack with regards to the restriction on importaning duty free for personal use (EU would have shut them down ). Way's and means

Dont know if you guys know, but all this climate change - heating up the earth will then lead to the earth getting colder and maybe re-freezing over....

The more I look in to this issue the more I am convinced that humans are causing climate change. I am no expert, so I will listen to the experts. The overwhelming majority believe it to be the case. The ones that don't seem to come from America (on the whole) and advise Bush. Why do they think that? Because America has 4% of the world's population and creates 25% of the world's waste. They are burying their heads in the sand because it is convenient to do so.

However, even if we assume that they may have a valid argument, why take the risk? Why not make changes to the way we live? We're not talking about huge things, but every little helps, and if we find that what we have done is in vain then so be it. But just in case it does make a difference is it not worth it?

I have just fitted a water butt (good timing eh?) and I will use that water to clean the car and water the garden should we ever get a summer. It cost me about £70 and will save me more than that in the long run. I have put low energy light bulbs in certain high usage areas of the house, and that will also save me money in the long run. I have also put "hippos" in the old toilet cisterns so that each time we flush we use about 2.5-3.0 litres less of water, which (given that we're on a meter) will save us money instantly.

None of what I have done is rocket science, but it will all save me money, and is, in my opinion, well worth the minimal effort I went to. And if the knock on affect is that it helps reduce climate change then even better.

Very commendable, but I don't think there is any correlation between water conservation affecting climate change.

Think with all that money you save you could go and buy a bigger car or take a foreign holiday.

Fair point about the water, but if climate change does indeed lead to longer, drier summers then it will be worth it...

As for the holiday. I'm no saint, I fly for fun, and the fuel in a light aircraft is approx 4.5 star leaded. There's nothing green about that at all. I also go on holiday once in a while, and don't feel guilty about it in the slightest. I suppose all i'm saying is why not do what we can? If it makes a difference then great, and if it doesn't then at least i've saved a few quid...

We did! My wife bought herself a 4x4, but I insisted that she have it converted to take autogas. Again, the effort was minimal and the saving will be incredible. It costs her about £15 to fill up.

I read that it is more enviromentally friendly to run an old small car (kept in a good state of tune) than it is to buy a new "green " cars. This is down to the carbon emissions involved in producing new cars.

Personally I plant 10 trees a week.

On the minus side I use those trees to start fires to burn tyres.

Just cant win.

Indeed, but my wife actually bought the car for medical reasons. She has had three back operations (spinal fusions) and needs a car that allows her to sit upright, and be able to get in and out easily without too much twisting or bending.

Don't get me wrong here, I wasn't having a pop !

Yeah its called an ice-age, the planet is till heating up from the last one and will eventually cool down and freeze over.

If this is incorrect in anyway then fell free to correct me someone.

Don't worry, I realised you were just making a point. If truth be told, I wouldn't have agreed to buying a Chelsea Tractor for any other reason. I hate the things. Infact, I don't find ours that comfortable. We're driving up to the Lake District tomorrow and I know I will have **** ache after about 2 hours!

I just don't see the point of having one NW London/Watford. Mind you, she does take it off road every day, she parks on the driveway! And to be a bit political, with the state of the roads round our way i'm starting to believe we all need an off roader!

I wont bore you with all the info, but basically ice melting (Fresh Water), runs into the sea (Salt Water) and this basically effects the Thermohaline, ultimately shutting down the Gulf Stream, making us and the rest of Western Europe a hell of a lot colder. This will then in turn affect the rest of the world as other warm water parts of the oceans currents are the shut down due to the vast amounts of fresh water going into the oceans.

But well done with the Ice Age bit :p

Erm right. I shall remain silent on this subject from now on then.
