Gills opposite Blues

I can't see this mentioned anywhere else....

Gills opposite us

Does anyone know what the reason may be for askig to have our matched paired against theirs?

Do they really think that their drop down to L2 is going to affect their fans so much that they would come over and watch Southend?

It's rather strange that it doesn't give the reasoning behind it and I can't think of an obvious reason why.

Just a bit strange to me. Cant even think of a logical reason as to why they would ask it

Well I can only assume that they feel that we will take some of their fans away. Apparently we ask the same for West Ham games which I didn't know.

Am I reading it right, because what annoys me is that I think its meaning Southend and Col U homes games will be on the same day (usually 1 of us plays away when the other is at home). This will mean when we are away and am not going to the match I cant even listen to it on BBC Essex as I bet they will put Col U on instead, unless they split it between two frequencies

I know why!

Its because we can all go watch our reserves and rejects so we know how their getting on trying to rescue their careers!

It does not mean that Alex, we have to be oposite Col Ewe for policing reasons, that will not change

Another of Scriv's little mistakes in there - it says that Col Ewe have to pair with Ipswich because of their shared stewards - surely shared fans is what he means?

It says on the official website, that Gillingham have asked not play their home games on the same day as Southend. It then says that Gillingham have asked not to be paired with Southend (this suggests paired means home games on the same day). It later says that Southend like to be opposite to West Ham because it effects their support, but Southend have to pair with Colchester (as suggested about the Gillingham fixtures) however the shared Stewards with Ipswich thing contridicts it

So if I have understood this correctly:-

When Southend are playing at home, Ipswich will also be at home. With Gillingham, Col Eve, and Wet Spam will be away.

When Southend are playing away, Ipswich will also be away. With Gillingham, Col Eve, and Wet Spam will be at home.

In this case Opposite and Pair are the same thing as far as the fictures are concerned. Any team we are paired with we are opposite to (Home/Away)

If we have to be opposite to Colchester that means that we will be at home for definate for the first game of the season because the Football League have agreed that Colchesters first game will be away because the Cuckoo Farm wont be ready on time....... Now who do we fancy at home ????

Pretty much , yes. But there will always be a few exceptions.
