There is no point talkin about Baldwin and Moshni or Phillips and Mohsni. Luggy will not drop Barker. It will be him and Mohsni. Chopping and changing is not conducive to success. This is why we are struggling, because Luggy keeps changing the team too much. Not playing Martin at home is baffling. Was it not Luggy that said he bought him because when Hall is marked out the game they need someone else, so why the hell was he on the bench! He needs to decide his best strike partnership as well and give them time to play together. In my view this would be Sampson and Benyon.

Coming out of the ground on Friday I could only see a heavy defeat for us tonight. But football has this horrible habit of building your hopes up and as we're getting closer to kick off I'm thinking we may scrape a point. By 7pm this evening I'll have probably put a fiver on a 4-0 away win.

As for the team, I think Sturrock needs to go back to step one. Last year he got us solid by putting Kane in front of the back four and going 4-3-3. I'd like to see him do that again.

Morris

Clohessy Barker Mohsni Gilbert

Ferdinand

Grant Timlin

Martin Dickinson Hall

pitch has been cleared and covered all week and the update on the gills website is that the pitch is playable.
I think we should go harris and sampson tomorrow youth with experience and harris knows that gillingham is a bit of a derby for us and he will as a player and supporter want to see us pick up 3pts.

I too wouldlike to see Harris and Sampson play together tonight.... Benyon on the bench with Blair and drop Dicko altogether.

Yeah i saw Fridays match , with this team :

Morris
Clohessy Mohsni Barker Gilbert
Grant Kalala Timlin
Dickinson Benyon Hall

...

So ,Tonight i'd go for

Bentley
Prosser Baldwin Phillips Coughlin
Martin Ferdinand Sturrock
Harris Sampson Flood
subs Crawford,Leonard,Corr, Clarkson,Kitman + 2 of the ballboys

: - )

...........................Morris

Clohessy ...Mohsni... Phillips (If fit) ...Prosser

..........................Kalala

..........Timlin .......... ........ Martin

...........................Hall

..............Sampson .....Harris

Subs: Dicko, Benyon, Grant, Barker, Ferdinand.

Although the joy of 'picking' our own team is sadly just fantasy ( well compared to Sturrocks 'reality' it is ) , it is at least comforting to see that finally those of you leaving out Gilbert , are then not putting him on the bench.
Quite a few were yesterday , but despite having thought long and hard , I can't see any possible scenario where her would be needed ???
Opinions hey , don't you just love them !!!!

My team for tonight would be :
Morris
Clohessy , Mohsni , Philips , Prosser ( not much better than Gilbert , but doesn't get as many chances either )
Kalala , Ferdinand
Timlin
Hall , Sampson , Martin
Subs : Harris , Benyon , Barker , Grant , Dickinson

I for one certainly don't envy Sturrock his team selection tonight, seen several suggestions that I like (Beefy, Smiffy to name two). I'm a fan of Dicko but think he needs a rest, give Sampson a chance. We desperately need Phillips back (poty?), but if he's not ready (and we shouldn't rush it if he's not) then OBL could right, it could be time to oil the old warhorse's legs and get Coughlan on. Not going to predict a score, or suggest a team, just want to see PS really shake it up.

Let's get behind them. Never giving up. SUFC Forever.

I am travelling from southampton to tonights game and I think PS will mix it up tonight and we will see a fresh side up for it with a point to prove. I am confident of a 3-1 win and mosh to score. I am picking a team on the basis that phillips fails test and clohessy is still suffering.

Id go

Morris
Grant
Mosh
Barker / Coughlan
Prosser
Hall
Timlin
Ferdinand
Martin
Harris (c)
Samspon

We need harris experience and hold up play tonight with playing 2 wingers we will be playing to harris strength.

I'm convinced Barker's carrying an injury......which was the excuse for Gilbert last season. Not sure what this season's is?

After witnessing the debacle on Friday, I think some serious changes need to be made - just to send the message to the players that not following instructions will not be tolerated. I've pondered this a lot and think I'd go for:

____________Morris______________

Clohessy Mohsni Barker Prosser

Hall Kalala Timlin Martin

______ Sturrock Harris__________

Subs: Ferdinand, Grant, Sampson, Dickinson, Benyon

Might be a weird looking frontline, but I think we need experience and workrate tonight as well as leaders all over the pitch. Harris and Sturrock always work hard, hold the ball up and play intelligent football. Neither of them have a great strike rate for us, but they create lots of goals for the midfielders so we could see goals from Hall, Timlin and Martin if they play.

I don't rate Prosser at left back at all, but Gilbert needs dropping and there's nobody else. I also think he's a good talker, and as captain of the reserves, he presumably is a bit of a leader on the pitch too.

Don't think Gilbert will be dropped even though I wish he would be and as some have said on here, Mohsni - Baldwin wouldn't work at the back yet. Quite an attacking 4-1-2-1-2 this...

If Phillips isn't fit, I'd go for:
Morris
Clohessy Mohsni Barker Prosser
Kalala
Hall Martin
Timlin
Sampson Harris

If Phillips is fit:
Morris
Clohessy Baldwin Phillips Prosser
Kalala
Hall Martin
Timlin
Sampson Mohsni

Everything seems to revolve around Phillips' fitness for me so I'll go for a 3-1 win if he 's fit and a 1-1 draw if he isn't!

Grant at RB?

We are fortunate in that Gills are also on a terrible run. We need a skanky win from somewhere to get the belief back. It helps of course that we are away from home. Last five minutes aside (and no excuses for that) the last away performance at Plymouth was actually pretty good. Away from our poisonous home crowd I think (hope) we will see an improved display.

You may have a point, our 17 match unbeaten run started with a scruffy win over the Gills.

For once i agree with you, unless we get the ball on the deck and play football i can only see another defeat. But Ross Flitney their goalie is injured and they will be playing a 20 year old so anything can happen.

There is nothing to back up that playing a different type of football will get a result. We didnt play like that to get us to the top and to ask a team lacking in confidence to play a different style of football.

This team has never shown it can be a good footballing side and to try to change into one now wouldnt work in my opinion.

I'd be seriously worried about playing Baldwin and Mohsni at the back together, this is a pairing that has no substance. Baldwin is still coming back to full match fitness and in a new club, he will have no experience of working with Mohsni and I can only see disaster written all over that combination! If Phillips is still not passed fit then I'd be looking at starting Coughlan with Mohsni, or possibly Prosser. The defence needs to have a veteran central defender if Mohsni is playing, and that can only be Barker or Coughlan, and by all accounts Barker has been very poor recently so he needs to be dropped. I'd love to know what Prosser needs to do to be given another chance, Sturrock really seems not to want to play him. I'd have him in either centrally or at left back tonight, Gilbert has been poor for ages.
How on earth then would any new player fit in a team if you followed that logic. I would say that Baldwin could be classified as a veteran and would fully complement Mohsni's youthful exurberance. Do you think Cahill will sit on the bench at Chelsea for this same reason. The only way to build a partnership is to play together.
