Old Timer
Yet another attempt to go top of the league, after our failures to do so against Swindon, Plymouth and Rotherham. Do we really have the desire to fight for the top spot albeit for possibly 24 hours? Look at Tuesday fixtures and points must be dropped by those around us whatever happens.
We really must turn this round soon otherwise we will be struggling to make the play offs let alone auto promo.
I really think that we must play both Martin & Hall to give us balance. I have put the National Grid on standby for possible power surges when everyone switches Sky off! Come on you Blues.

Does it look like this game will go ahead at the minute?

Yep. Cold spell over and done with.

As for the game, I feel we will be on the wrong end of a 2-0 score line. Hall will be marked out the game and the defensive wobbles will continue.

Would love to be proved wrong of course.

I believe our best hope is that Gillingham hav'nt played for 2 weeks, and will hopefully be a little 'rusty'. I dont buy into the theory that they will be refreshed following their break playing competitive football. We had 9 days rest before the Swindon game and still played gash.
Admittedly they have a couple of decent strikers, but they concede a lot as well. In their last home game they were 3-1 up against Wimbledon and lost 4-3!.

Unless a totally different team shows up for this game, I can't see anything but a defeat. At least lets try something different Sturrock. Although won't be suprised if we do see the same bunch line up.. Here's praying for change

Big words from luggy about benching all the players but weve heard that before to little effect. He needs to man up and drop his skipper who is in wretched form. Phillips hopefully fit and alongside Mohsni. Gilbert did ok friday and Clohessy has been our most consistent player this season. In the midfield, well Grant shouldnt even make the bench after his display on friday night. Martin in place of him and Timlin in his rightful position alongside JPK. Up top well its difficult. Benyon and Dicko dont look like theyve hit it off. I would bring Sampson alongside Benyon and leave Dicko on the bench as he has been pretty poor though hes not the only one.

pitch has been cleared and covered all week and the update on the gills website is that the pitch is playable.
I think we should go harris and sampson tomorrow youth with experience and harris knows that gillingham is a bit of a derby for us and he will as a player and supporter want to see us pick up 3pts.

I think there will be some rustled feathers a few changes and we will see the team come flying out of the traps and I am betting on a 3-1 with mosh to score

Went with my heart against Rotherham and put us on my coupon so going to go with my head this time. We were lucky to beat them at home with the immense Phillips making the difference. Without him i can only see a defeat.

We are playing like relegation fodder, our form matches and its showing in the players confidence.

Feels like we have been worked out and opposition managers are tipping eachother off. Man-mark Hall tightly and put Gilbert under pressure and you're half-way there. Sturrock has no answers to this so far.

Basic passing and control seems to be getting poorer by the week. God knows what we do in training?

I like us away from home, but our form has been so bad of late im not sure, so il go for a 1 1 draw. morris
clossey Baldwin Phillips prosser
jpk
Hall Mohsni Timlin Martin
Sampson

i reckon we'll go 4-5-1 and look to not lose this one, rather than try and win it. I would like to see a bit of shake up and drop the underperforming Gilbert, Dicko, Grant, Benyon. Maybe move Barker out to LB although another CB partnership at this point in the season worries me.

Morris

Clohessy Baldwin Mohsni Barker

Kalala
Fedinand Timlin
Hall Martin

Sampson

Bench - Blair, Grant, Harris, Coughlan, Prosser

Morris

Clohessy mosh phillips/Baldwin barker

Hall Kalala timlin Martin

Harris Sampson

I totally agree with Bazza that this is the team that should start tonight. Whether we win depends on how much they want it I think. I don't care if we play direct football, I don't care if it looks ugly. That's what worked for 18 games and at the moment, we just need a win to boost everyone's confidence

I cannot call this, we can win if start well and on the front foot. Equally it could be a repeat of Friday. I think the players will have had their kick up the backside and will go for a 1-1 draw, which really is no good for either sides ambitions.

Morris
Clohessy, Moshni, Baldwin, Gilbert
Hall, Kalala, Timlin, Martin
Sampson, Harris

subs Barker, Grant, Ferdinand, Dickinson, Benyon

If Phillips is miraculously fit, push Mohsni up front in place of Harris.

I'd be seriously worried about playing Baldwin and Mohsni at the back together, this is a pairing that has no substance. Baldwin is still coming back to full match fitness and in a new club, he will have no experience of working with Mohsni and I can only see disaster written all over that combination! If Phillips is still not passed fit then I'd be looking at starting Coughlan with Mohsni, or possibly Prosser. The defence needs to have a veteran central defender if Mohsni is playing, and that can only be Barker or Coughlan, and by all accounts Barker has been very poor recently so he needs to be dropped. I'd love to know what Prosser needs to do to be given another chance, Sturrock really seems not to want to play him. I'd have him in either centrally or at left back tonight, Gilbert has been poor for ages.

The whole of the support seems to recognise we need Martin and Hall running the wings so let's hope Sturrock does this tonight. One of Ferdinand, Kalala or Grant in the middle alongside Timlin please. Up top, I'd be looking at Harris and Sampson to be honest. I think Dicko needs a break from being practically the only person expected to score.

This is how I'd start:
Morris
Clohessy, Coughlan/Phillips, Mohsni, Prosser
Hall, Timlin, Ferdinand, Martin,
Harris and Sampson

Subs: Baldwin, Grant, Kalala, Dickinson, Benyon (who hasn't really done much wrong except arrive at a time when we've hit a major poor patch!)
