Getting to Wembley this evening

Help required - england tonite

I have a ticket for tonight but am going on my own. Cant get there by train, National Express not an option. Is anyone going and driving? If so any chance of a lift. A bit cheeky but would really appreciate some help.

Cheers UTB

we are travelling from Billericay to Liverpool street, then getting a cab across London, there is room in the cab

Thought about that, i am also in Billericay, but of course was concerned about the cost involved. Any idea, how much? What time are you going?

we are travelling quite early to get there

no idea of the costs, but not really that bothered

if you wanna hope in call me 07736-880 790

Cheers soul, might still call you, problem is not necessarily getting there, problem will be getting home. Spoken to someone at work who has tried similar thing when all was normal and it was a nightmare. Plus, taxi will problem cost 40-50 quid each way. Not really got the money to spend. Appreciate your response.

That cab journey will take longer than the match and cost more than your match ticket !

Getting there is reasonably straightforward if you can leave before the rush hour on the overland services. Getting home will be a nightmare as, with a 10:15 finish, there are few overland trains.

If you decide it's all too much trouble, the FA are refunding unused tickets.

I am aware of the of the refund, but just wanted to go, and didnt want the theifing bar stewards on the tubes to beat us!!

Cabs are running fixed fares in London today apparently. Try calling them up before you go, they might be able to tell you how much. Or if they are not, try agreeing the price with the cabbie before you set off rather than running the meter.

IMO your problem wont be getting too the match... but getting home!

that was our plan, the cost will be between 3 of us across London, see how it goes

actually scrap that, the jubilee line is running

Alternativley, if you can get a cab from Liv Str to Baker Street (much cheaper than all the way to Wembley), the Met line is running a shuttle by the looks of things between Baker and Wembley

This is the same part of the line that the Jubilee line uses but the Met line only has two stops between Baker and Wembley, opposed to about 8 on the Jubliee

As I am sure you are aware there is a tube strike today, so getting to Wembley will be difficult.

No problem I think, I shall go on the Chiltern Railways mainline which stops at Wembley Stadium.

WRONG. Because it might get too busy they have decided that NO trains will stop at Wembley from 12noon today.

So much for customer service. Putting on extra trains and getting them all to stop at Wembley would simply be too sensible!

"Please be aware that we will not be stopping any services at Wembley Stadium Station on 10 June, from 1200 until the end of service. We will unfortunately not be providing a service for those going to see the England game at Wembley Stadium.
This is because of the RMT tube strike that is taking place tonight from 1900, and until 1900 on Thursday 11 June . The increased volumes of traffic using London Marylebone to get to and from work in lieu of the London Underground, will mean that our services will be substantially busier. The large volumes of anticipated Wembley traffic in addition to this would be unsustainable from a safety perspective. We have also been advised by the British Transport Police that the crowd volumes at Wembley Stadium station could potentially be unsafe.

The safety of both our regular passengers, and the additional travellers using our services because of the strike, is paramount, and we therefore have taken the difficult decision to withdraw services to Wembley on 10 June. Unfortunately this will also affect the evening journey of those who commute to/ from Wembley Stadium station."

Folk could get Essex Bambi to stand on top of a tall building and look in the general direction of Wembley, then you could cycle along his nose and jump off at Wembley!

Its also 1) expense for them 2) Grr look what *******s the RMT are and 3) I blame teh BNP ... oh wait sorry wrong thread . Buses it is then ?

if the BNP get there way then I think tonights game would be quite competitive, England would be a pretty rubbish team

Buses are awful as well. Not one stopped along Fenchurch St this morning. In the end I walked to London Bridge, got a train to Waterloo, then a train to Chiswick.
