Gerrard to leave Liverpool

Finally Mr Overrated is leaving.

Scored some great goals, won a few cups, but will never be as good as Lampard or Scholes, fact.

Oh, and Liverpool legend? He only stayed at the club because his family recived death threats if he joined Chelsea. Legend is the last thing I would call him.

Firstly your opinion does NOT make it a fact !.
Secondly as it is widely reported by reputable sources he had many more offers than the two to Chelsea including Real Madrid also twice so him staying so long was nothing to do with your internet rumour.
Due to his performances and loyalty he is without doubt a legend at Liverpool as he would be if he had played at any other club you care to mentioned.

Think he could've played for Liverpool for at least another season. Lampard is a year older and making an impact for City, and Giggs was 40 before he finally retired.

Difference is both Lampard and Giggs are examples of players who adapted their games as soon as their legs went. Successive managers at Liverpool have all said Gerrard could extend his career in a different position, Benitez suggested Gerrard could finish his career as a forward whereas Hodgson and Rodgers have fielded him deeper and deeper in midfield that Savage was talking about him being used as a centre-half the other night.

The fact Gerrard continues to be used in the position he seemingly wants to be remembered in would suggest he either hasn't the ability or the inclination to adapt.

This article gives a rather more balanced view.
