I hope Tilson won't be looking at these players - they won't get in any championship side, never mind our side. If Tilson think Barry Hayle is not good enough up front for Southend, these players not good enough for Championship as well. If we sign them, we will be looking at quick return to League 1.

Thomas Byrne that you talked of is I assume Tommy Byrne who seemed so set the youth team on fire with his goals a few years ago. Not sure if he is much cop now.

I actually thought Leigertwood was pretty decent when I've seen him but was convinced he's a defender. I'd much rather see us get Rihilahti in but he would have to be a first teamer if he moved and I can't imagine we would upset the centre of midfield so dramatically.

Also used to rate Igoe but I don't think he's quite what he used to be.

Apart from that, I agree with DtS

Seriously, you think they're all cack? Including Eifion Williams, who seemed to score against us every time we played Pools? And I was one of those who thought Strachan was half decent during his wee spell at the Hall...

As for Sharps, you obviously weren't at Prenton Park when we went there in January. Man of the match contender along with (surprisingly) Jason MacAteer, and had Fred in his pocket almost all afternoon (other than when Fred almost broke the crossbar).

Again, perhaps I imagined the stunning goal Pinault scored against us in the LDV in early 2004...

Mikele Leigertwood is a cracking centre half from Palace, if memory serves me right, he played a few games in the Premiership for them and didn't look out of place.
