George Moncur appreciation thread

Tommy2holes

Life President⭐
I must admit. I was a little dubious reading the Orient thread about George being lazy and difficult etc. That he can't last 90 minutes.

Maybe he just needed a new challenge and to be somewhere he needs to be appreciated.

He is a class above at this level. It's clear he still needs a little more work in his fitness and strength but he is getting better every game.

Seems to bring out more from those around him as well.

Needs to be able to feed a player near him that has an entirely different focus, that is goal bound and direct. George behind a Freddy Eastwood, Barry Corr, David Crown or Brett Angell would just be rude. Definetly his fitness improving will turn him into a wow player, able to tease and walk round players but have a fierce shot without sprinting.
Love watching him, patiently waiting for Forsen to come alive in this team and win those 2nd balls with pace and agility.
once he realises he doesnt have to be in every position up and down the pitch, asking for the ball, and trust in others, then watch out NL.

Forsen nearly created the ball of the season for wood. About an 6 inches from being a worldy

The wage to compare our offer against isn’t what his current Orient salary is, it’s what his other contract offers will be. There, we will be competitive unless he decides to ‘do a Cardwell’ if one of the NL moneymen swoops.
I wouldn't like to label it "do a cardwell" I think anyone that gets the kind of salary rise would go elsewhere. Only exceptions are people like jack bridge who is a boyhood fan. Rare to find these days

You’re assuming ‘do a Cardwell’ is a negative. It isn’t, it’s a perfectly reasonable choice. But it’s a situation where (it appears) someone decides on a particular move largely based on the wage increase. Therefore the right comparison to the situation we might have with Moncur next summer.

I think even without the wages conversation if George continues the way he is going and stays fit for the majority of the year EFL clubs will be lining up
