Interesting viewpoint.Thought we played well first half, pretty poor second half… but that doesn’t matter now - into the lottery of the playoffs.
We’ll need to up our game for the next one - would like to see a couple of changes. Particularly Bonne in for Hopper - he looked a lot better when he came on.
One legged all the way to the finalHow does the play offs work again ? Two legged at this stage then one leg away against 2nd ? Then final ?
Only if another screen is up, lol!Well done Kev and the whole team including the back room staff , we never do things the easy way and I wouldn’t put it past us to pull off the unexpected
One thing for sure is that roots hall will be rocking
So schedule is
Rochdale away
FGR away?
Final
I watched it just up the coast from you James, we’re in Bergen, off to Stavanger on Wednesday.I say this with the caveat that I am 4 cocktails deep on the P&O Iona, having watched on DAZN on my phone whilst we sailed away from Stavanger, Norway.
But I thought that was almost as good a 0-0 away performance as you'll see from us.
Won't win any awards for being free-flowing, and we should really have made our first half superiority count before a more even second half.....but ultimately, who cares?
They did exactly what they needed to do.
It was hard-working and professional, and we swept up the vast majority of second and third balls. Bar parts of the final 15 mins (including stoppage time), it felt like we were in control and never really in much danger.
We played the match, not the occasion, and the game management and ****housery was generally on point.
The playoffs are a lottery and we've given ourselves a chance!
Well done you Blue Boys!
I was watching the scenes after the game. Tremendous, fans, players, and staff. Also nice that a few Gateshead clapped our players as they came off.
I dare say they were Southend fans in the home endI was watching the scenes after the game. Tremendous, fans, players, and staff. Also nice that a few Gateshead clapped our players as they came off.
