Also received many SUFC based goodies, which as always is very welcome.

Not that anyone other than me gives a flying feck but today's interview lasted 2-3/4 hours

Worse than that I had £3.50 on me to get home. £1.50 for the London bus and £2 for the bus from Rayleigh. The £1.50 got stuck in one of Livingstone's fabulous ticket vending machines and no amount of bashing would free it. So I ended up walking from the Strand back to Liverpool Street having already walked the other way in the first place. Not really that far - about a 45 minute walk - but not ideal in a whistle given the humidity.

UPDATE - They like me and I have a one hour telephone interview with the HR Director from the States either this afternoon or Monday - waiting to hear. All very promising.

About the same basic salary and benefits I was on but the bonus won't be as high. To counterbalance this the work ethic is family oriented. Expected to start between 8.30 and 9 and not expected in the office after 6 unless there's a deadline to meet. The MD apparently comes round, switches off your PC and kicks you out of the door, though more often than not the office is empty by 5.30. Very attractive when you're used to finishing 8-9pm and working to and from the office on the train.

Money or family, I know which comes first.

nah good luck Tone, you've had just the right amount of time off to recharge the batteries and start afresh.

and just the right amount of time off before you became a bum

Good luck. Obviously the kids and missus come first, but those hours give you enough time to get to a midweek game. Very handy.

Cheers all

FURTHER UPDATE - had a 1 hour telephone conf call with the guy from the US this evening and it all went extremely well. I'm now reasonably confident that I'll get offered this job but even if that doesn't happen I know I've given it my best shot. My morale is as high as it has been for weeks and this is bound to rub off on the other couple of things that are bubbling away if this one falls apart.

I've also been down the gym every day this week (including footie training day) and I'll be back down there again in the morning. Even in just five days I'm already feeling the positive effects. I have a lot more energy and I've cut all the sh!t out of the diet. I don't have a sweet tooth but I am partial to bread with everything and the odd pastry, both now replaced with fruit and yoghurt.

Well done ORM, best of luck.....Before you know it, with your new enlightened attitude you'll be enrolling on as a Jehovah in your spare time.....Can't wait to tell you to f%&k off to you face:p

Funny you should say that. We had some knocking at our door yesterday for the first time in many eons. Though I'd been out of practise one look at the Watchtower and I managed to get the door shut before they'd uttered a word.

A girl at my last place was a JW. She was one of those girls with a forgettable face - well her bazookas were so big I rarely checked from the neck up.

Happened to be a very nice person.

Got a phone call late this afternoon - I'm definitely a strong contender for this one but I'm trying hard not to build my hopes up too much.

It's untenable isn't it.

Expecting the verdict on my interview in the next few days. There's one more stage after it but from reports of a friend who's already been employed i a similar position, the last part is just to check you get on ok with the relevant managers/partners.

Not particularly hopeful but bearing in mind that there's always a chance. Got an assessment day with BetFair in the pipeline and that one sounds much more fun anyway!
