Frightening!!!

Is anybody else worried by the blatent lack of attacking abilities we had today without Freddy, every time we went forward we lacked imagination, pace and seemed to take about five minutes to reach the penalty area, Harrold showed once again why he is good to have as a squad player but still lacks any real threat as a main striker. Foran was invisible and our only replacement for him was Bradbury who worked hard but a Harrold and Bradbury strikeforce* would struggle for goals in league 2 in all honesty, no pace or direction. If Freddy does leave us with some money we need Tilly to make some good signings.
Also did anybody else think we deserved a penalty in the second half when Harrold was facing away from goal (of course) and was being dragged back, poor officiating again today.

*i use the term loosely

Pretty obvious we have no pace in the side attacking wise apart from JCR. Thats been a huge problem we never sorted out at the start of the season. Even Freddy doesnt possess great pace.

With Tilly's record on strikers we will drop straight through league one next season. Not much wrong with the rest of the side but if you cant score goals when you're on top then you will be punished in any division. League one next year will be no different to what we all saw today.

Jolly good. A bit like last year when your terrible manager made a right hash of League One, eh?

I'm sorry the defence was poor again. Infact our defence has been poor for the last few years. It was just at league one and two the other teams didn't punish us and we could score more goals.

The defence needs sorting out more than the strikers.

Completly disagree. The deffence is put under presure by the completely inept strike force that can't hold the ball up, can't bring other team members into the game, don't know how to work off each other or make effective runs down the channels., and couldn't score in a brothel. And as for our great manager getting us out of division one last year, I think that was mainly down to a certain Mr Eastwood, without whom our great manager would still have us lounging around the depths of division two still.

I have to agree. The amount of goals shipped this season (often down to individual or organisational errors) has been our downfall.

I admire Barrett and Clarke immensely. They share a lot in common, both are non-stop battlers and play with their hearts on their sleeves but are ultimately limited footballers. Their action-man approach makes for eye-catching individual performances and often high ratings in match reviews but our defence lacks an organiser and boss - someone who makes a group of four players work effectively together as a defensive unit.

clarke needs to learn how to score from corners. his run up and leap are brilliant and he constantly wins the ball but has not scored one of them yet. as an example yesterday we all thought he scored. he done really well with his run and jump and when he rose he had a free header but put it wide

Yesterday summed up our season for me. We played nice football, defended like **** and never looked like scoring a goal.

When clarkey doesn't have a good game, and yesterday he didn't play particularly well by his recent standard, we don't play or defend well. Clarke has been massive for us this season and when he has an off day, which he is entitled to occasionally, somebody else needs to come to tha fore and nobody did.

Or ..... we are, in fact, being beaten by much better teams than we have regularly played against for a number of years.

It's a common trait among a lot of supporters mind. The team and management are absolute cack until they win when they suddenly become brilliant heroes again.

I know I'm getting old when I feel disappointed by the ever-increasing number of people who appear not to accept victory and defeat as twin imposters. We're in the 'Talksport-Era' of apparently serious football supporting and it's saddening in a lot of ways.

Does it tell you something when an Orient fan has to put you right?

:thump:

Everyone is moaning that tilly has done nothing right and that we need eastwood to win but you all seem to forget, who got us fred in the 1st place? how many other managers would go scouting at grays?

And like someone else said it isnt our defence that needs work, its our attack. Most the time our midfield and defence do well. But what JoshC said about eastwood is a load of rubbish, yea fred does have pace but how often this season has he used it? He certainly doesnt use it to get back onside.

Probably the best post I have seen on this website.
Some of the knee jerk reaction posts you get on here is unbelievable

Our main problem yesterday was the lack of a decent out-ball. Usually we get the ball to Eastwood as quickly as possible because one of his many talents is in retaining posession. He holds onto it, takes it wide and then releases it to someone else. Without him in the side we instead constantly looked to get the ball forwards to Harrold or Foran but neither of them were able to keep it so it was always coming right back at us. We looked so much better when Barrett and Bradbury were up top because both are better in the air and both are strong enough to hold the ball up and bring other players in.

must admit thats if we don't sort out attack out in the summer we might even struggle in league 1 if we go down. if you can't score then you struggle

That is it in a nutshell. Same happened against Col Ewe first half with no JCR to hold and bring the ball . At Preston their defence and midfield kept on cocking up their passing , so we got away with it . But even tho we deserved something at Preston , we nearly lost , saved only by the wonder-strikes
