Mine didn't change majorly, I already knew about the boy/girl thing as I'd been a tomboy growing up and didn't want EVER to wear the matching dresses my mum often insisted my sister and I should wear if we were going out somewhere!

My daughter wore some of my son's hand-me-downs, we had a lot of neutral stuff anyway, and I see nothing wrong in a bit of blue on girls...only bodysuits and that kind of thing obviously, plus some t-shirts. You have to be practical.

Agreed, but would you put a boy in a bit of pink?

Hmmm.....I never did, but I know friends who have had pink polo tops for boys and things like that, when they've been a bit older, like 2 or 3. Plus, I don't like the colour pink anyway, whereas blue and green are my favourite colours!

Not as such but....

The other day, my daughter asked her Nanna if she could have coloured fingernails just like her. So my Mum offered to paint my daughter's fingernails. My son didn't want to be left out and it was difficult to justify why he shouldn't have his done, so his were painted too. In blue though of course - he was keen to point out that pink is for girls!

I only asked because I actually would have done the same as you, i.e. put a girl in blue. I don't have girls though, but I haven't put either of my boys in pink even though I have a very pink shirt that I sometimes wear for work. Every time my boys say pink is for girls I show them my shirt. I'm being hypocritical, though, because I wouldn't put them in pink. It's a tough one, and my decision is partly down to not wanting other people to mistake my kids for girls, even though that would be difficult to do these days!
