Frendlies. Should we be getting excited?

Frendlies are by no means an indicator for the season....but a good pre season can go a long way to rebuilding confidence for the boys, they were at times last season outclassed, so winning a few football matches can surely only help.

scoring a few goals is really going to help paynter and harrold as they both had a pretty dire season so this is good news for building confidence. especially as we didn't really score that many goals last season.

McCormack also seems to use these matches to hone his Referee Haranguing skills if the Canvey match was anything to go by :)

I've only seen the Canvey match but they weren't mugs. It looked like a good run-out to me and the friendly fixtures generally seem to be have provided a good mix of quality levels in the opposition.

I would have thought the friendlies will be very useful to Tilly in particular in reminding him of the strengths and weaknesses in the squad as well as giving him an opportunity to try some players and tactics out.

Don't be so disrespectful. Our opposition so far may not have been fantastic, but they're a long way from being pub teams.

I don't know anyone that has got too excited over the results. It's nice to see us score and win some games, but in the end we all know they're meaningless games and I don't think anyone reads anything into them.

I beg to differ - Seeing the thread entitled "THE Matt Harrold thread" the other day completely terrified me and I would say it goes towards showing that people are getting a bit too excited.....

I suspect the implications of Matt Harrold being top scorer maybe too terrifying for you!!:p

i agree Londonblue.

Although these teams are of a low standard, ts nice to actually smash them by a few goals, rather than scrape crappy wins, and 17 goals in 3 games is certainly the way to do that... however, we have also conceded 3 goals against crap oppo, so that obivously needs working on.

As you say, a reason to be optomistic, but not to get carried away.
