Fredy fee

Grayson

Life President⭐🦐
my dad went to a party last night and spoke to a reliable source (who i cannot reveal as he was told in confidence). He said that the fee for fredy was 20k, with an addition of 5k if we get promoted. I dont know of any sell-on clauses though.

IMO, this is a huge bargain for him, and i cant quite understand how we got him so cheaply, i suppose being in theconference south they dont pay money to buy players and deal in frees.

i will probably being accused of lying because i havent said who told my dad this, but i am only saying what i have been told.

You're lying

There has to be a sell-on clause, Grays would be mugs if there wasn't. Also the Grays website says that whilst they can't give details of the fee involved the deal is good for them now 'and in the future' - says it all really.

It may be that a sell-on clause in the region of 25-30% could have been agreed and accepted by Southend United simply to "get their man". Such a percentage from a future six-figure transfer fee would be well appreciated by Grays Athletic ...

Tilson mentioned on BBC Essex about a week ago that a sell on clause was "very likely". Bearing in mind he said this a couple days before we signed him.

Something that hasn't been mentioned is the fact that his agent actually asked for £30,000 for putting the deal together! What a joker.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the fee WAS only £30K, but with clauses for appearances, goals and promotion attached to his contract for maybe another £10-20K this season and a sell-on clause of about 30% of any future transfer deals.

I would be quite happy for Grays to get a nice little windfall once in a while and just hope that Fredy stays with us long enough for us to fully appreciate this outlay.

ONE FREDY EASTWOOD!

Dear all,

my first post back at my beloved Shrimperzone I wish to tell you all that the fee for Freddy Eastwood was £40,000.

This is what stevie tilson had told someone I know and that Ron Martin was struggling to get the money hence the reason it took a while to complete the deal because Southend had to fund the deal.

As much as some of you dislike the man, Ron Martin has pulled out all of the stops to get his man.

I have nothing against Mr Martin and don't know why anyone would, he only wants whats best for the club and for us to move forward IMO

He's a property developer ... and that puts the hackles up on many people's backs. I've spoken to him a few times and he's always tried to convince me that he has the best intentions for the club. He may well do - and in all honesty I have no reason to disbelieve him - but the next 12 - 18 months will be interesting ...

How u mean? On a scale of 1 - 10, 1 being as rich as Chelsea and 10 being Hornchurch, where are we? Cause all this paper debt and real debt is confusing me!

Probably about 7 or 8.

I believe all of our debt is now to our benefactors (SEL / Delancey?) rather than to outside creditors like the Inland Revenue. This puts us in a better position than, say, two years ago. However, when I say the next 12-18 months will be interesting, I was talking in terms of the stadium proposals and the distinct lack of news forthcoming from SEL with respect to the submission of revised plans for the development at Fossetts Farm, something Ron Martin suggested would be done during the summer. It's almost the middle of November ...

Closer than I thought! Last year we made a small profit but the £500,000 from Cardiff helped, I assume we'd have to make Cardiff again to again report a profit?

Not necessarily. Decent attendances, decent turnover in the club shop, corporate ventures. They all contribute.

WS

Then again, attendances (I'm not sure but think) are up on last year and presumably, in line with FL regulations, we'd have had to have reduced our wage bill. I'm pretty sure Warren was on quite a lot so that should have saved us a bit and Cort, having been our best player for a couple of years probably commanded a pretty decent salary.

I'd be very interested to have a look through the accounts. Has anyone got a copy I could look at?

The last available accounts were up to July 2003. I have a copy here. You're welcome to pop over and take a look ...

I can't see our wage bill being reduced... got a bigger squad and Prior would command more than Warren and Eastwood would be earning over the £350 connie was on i'd imagine, i'd guess our wage bill is higher than last season, and I agree that there is most likely a higher turnover this point than last season but crowds are no guarentee and if we slump i'm sure the fair weather fans would dissperse again, don't wanna deflate what is a fantastic time to be a shrimper but there is always an underlying fear that this wonderfull little club could be in trouble?

Funnily, enough, I've been looking through Ryanair's accounts today and with their new 'base' in Madrid, there should be plenty of routes to Spain available. Is Javeá anywhere nearby?

Take it:

a) you don't have an electronic copy

and

b) you're not prepared to type them up for me.

As for the idea that we could be screwing ourselves in to a financial pit that we may not be able to get out of, I doubt that a lot. When you bear in mind how much RM would stand to lose if the club went down the pan, it seems unlikely he would afford Tilson that much wages. Considering they're all ex players or local, Prior, Barrett, Edwards and Eastwood probably didn't demand too much.

Nope. But we're an hour or so south of Valencia; Ryanair fly there too.

Seriously :

a) no

b) I could. But it will take some time. Perhaps it might be better to speak to someone in the UK ...
