Freddy to Palace

I don't necessarily believe the NotW but it's a fact that there will be MANY clubs wanting Freddy mainly CCC but some Prem too. I think we can all agree Palace would probably be one of the only (if not THE only) CCC club he'd go to due to the fact he wouldn't have to uproot from Wickford.

I don't think theres any real reason to doubt the story. Peter Taylor is a known fan of Eastwood's, he has admitted being interested in him already this season, he was at the game on friday and he's fallen out with Clinton Morrison.

Taylor wanting Eastwood at Palace isn't a story at all. The story is whether we'd want to sell and whether Fred would want to leave.

Would we want to sell? Definately not, not even for 3 million. As has already been stated by RM.

Would Freddy want to go? Possibly, but I imagine that depends on how much he feels he can improve his profile by staying with us.

The trouble is if we're rock-bottom at Christmas can we afford to turn down ÂŁ2m for Eastwood knowing that that money could significantly improve the squad and that we'd be lucky to get half that if next summer we're a League One club again and Eastwood has only the years option left on his contract?

...and some in the Prem I would wager.
Lets make a topic for each of the managers that want him then

Reality is if we are offered ÂŁ3m we'll almost certainly take it I would think. The really worrying thing is should an offer like that come in close to the January deadline with little time to strengthen the squad with the proceeds Eastwood's departure would almost certainly result in relegation and without Freddy we'd struggle badly to bounce straight back.

If it happened it will probably be done as a loan deal first & then the sale would go through when the transfer window opened. A bit like the supposed Sunderland deal.

If this was the case, we'd have a bit more time to do something, perhaps Morrison being offered as part of the deal, even on loan?

Hopefully Freddy will stay to the end of the season regardless of what happens. His 20+ goals will win us enough goals, especially if Stan comes back, which is rumoured to be a done deal.

There's no way Morrison would come here on loan, he's an arrogant sod and he'd definitely think little old Southend was way beneath him.

As for Stan I'd say that's HIGHLY unlikely, he loves the club and we love him too but I'm sure he'd only consider us a last resort. I'm not convinced he'd want to return to a Championship relegation battle myself.

Morrison would probably be offered, but getting to accept is another matter.

Stan may happen even on a short term basis, perhaps a pay per play arrangement. Not many teams would take the chance & if you've read Tillys comments, it would appear he would go for it if Stan is fit. Where better for him to go, than a place he's loved & would be a bit more understanding if he's a bit rusty?

I must have miseed that rumour....

As AD said, I'm certain that Stan would view Southend United as a last resort.

Haven't seen Tilly's comments on Stan mate where did you read them?

If Freddy goes in January, and its certainly a possibility then we will be in serious trouble.

Unfortunately he is the only player in the squad who looks dangerous of scoring and I cant see us surviving without him.

If we had 2 million for him I couldnt see who we would be able to buy that would get the goals ?
