Freddy Eastwood

Must miss the sea air

Didn't have much time to give this much of a response earlier AS as I'm 'on call' today & got called just as I was replying, but IIRC, he had a back injury when he left us, and after starting well for WW, his form plummetted, McCarthy had him on the bench a lot and it appears that he lost a lot of that confidence (arrogance?) which made him such a special performer for us... uncle Ron recently offered the opinion that he maybe doesn't ''travel well'' (hmmm...), but it is strange that he's not doing it. He really seemed to feed off The Goat well, so maybe he needs a target man type alongside him and to be 'the big fish' in a smaller pond to flourish. But as Robert Kennedy once said, some people ask ''why?'' but I ask ''why not?'' (sic)...

Just saw that....'Our' Freddy would have bagged that no question, clearly lacking confidence.

His shot/cross was terrible...he only had to role it to Morrison not blast it

It looks like he's not comfortable with his role at CC 'per se,' ie seemingly being used as a playmaker/foil to Morrison rather than the main man...

Rather like the situation with Hooper but in reverse. Would still have him back quick as blinking.

...or as rapid eye movement? Had you just gone in or got up when you wrote this, Kay? Yes, it's early & I'm :offtopic::)

Got up then went back to bed around 6, so this is the 2nd time of surfacing! Now back to Freddy please!

Eastwood has been found out.... Fairly one-dimensional... Has a less than admirable attitude.... Not being centre of attention doesnt help this, and to be fair isnt being played as we played him.. Can only see him dropping back to league 1. Coventry fans cant stand him. I would rather have what we got already than take him back. He had his moment

I agree with that comment, some players have to be the centre of attention to get the best out of them.

I guess you could argue that after Collymore left us his prolific scoring ability was never realised like so many thought it would be and he struggled to settle in every team he moved to

Got to disagree AS, Stan's prolific goal scoring continued throughout his career,

1992–1993 Southend United App 30 Goals 15
1993–1995 Nottingham Forest App 65 Goals 41
1995–1997 Liverpool App 63 Goals 28
1997–2000 Aston Villa App 46 Goals 7
1999 → Fulham (loan) App 6 Goals 0
2000 Leicester City App 11 Goals 5
2000–2001 Bradford City App 7 Goals 2
2001 Real Oviedo App 3 Goals 0

Or a Goal every 2.3 games on average

I don't think John Gregory helped Stan as i don't think Mcarthy helped Freddy.

Fair comment, that is what happens when you assume something instead of looking up the stats

AS.... Place..put in

Stan gets a lot of stick because foolishly he had so many other "headlines" rather than football which is a shame, and people don't remember Southend / Forest or Liverpool for the right reasons. They remember stan for the Depression / Urika incident or Dogging which is a shame.

he must be upset about his goal account , as his bank account soars.

Comes back the age old question.....what kind of footballer is he? There are players (although I would imagine not many) who would be happy to pick up their pay cheque each week and sit on the bench. But one would assume that most of them want to be playing every game for the full 90 and performing to the best of their ability.

Not sure what catogory Fredy would fall in to though!
