Southend may be struggling in the Championship right now, but striker Freddy Eastwood is showing that he can make his mark at this level. Last season's joint leading scorer in League One with 25 goals, Freddy already has six to his credit (three in the league, and three in the Carling Cup) this season and he is the fans' choice for player of the month in the Championship.

He only has to turn up to get rave reviews nowdays, in my opinion he is just not cutting it in this league at the moment.

I sincerely hope he gets a lot better soon, and hopefully when he has either Harrold or Ricketts with him he will.

Hahaha, one of the most undeserved awards! Could have given it him for August at a stretch.

Oh well, most players don't seemt o realise that it's voted by fans so hopefully it will benefit all involved.

Think Eastwood is doing ok for us, the only player looking capable of doing anything, although the team playing so poorly is holding him back.

How he could be player of the month though is ridiculous.

Why? This award means nothing because of sad fans like us who just vote for the same player so he ends up getting the award. Eastwood's been nowhere near his best so far. I love the official site line at the end:

"We would like to congratulate Freddy on this prestigious award"

Thats actually quite embarassing.

I'm pleased for Freddy though. It can't be much fun for him out there at the moment having three defenders on him whenever he's within five yards of the ball and then watching as his inept teammates conceed another comedy goal.

I'm pleased for Freddy and it'll boost him but the award's a joke, it really is. It's not representative at all. The Powerade award is different as that's judged by a panel, all this one tells us is that more Southend fans have voted than any other club in the Championship.

ok i know freddy hasn't been up to standard but he was the top contender for the award and yet you lot are moaning about. we should be happy that the one of our players has won it and be supportive.

If the award is fair and justified Ill be delighted one of our players gets it but when its as farsical as it obviously is I place no value on it.

If Freddy wins it when its not justified that means when one of our players does deserve it the award could go somewhere else.
