Freddy and Harrold bids turned down

I didnt mean to compare the two, but i was trying to make the point that with Bradburys lack of pace and the fact he is not really a goalscorer, we need something extra to go with Fred.

I do agree with you for next season, we do need more and I really hope pace is one of the attributes we get as we have noone!

By the way if you havent heard whoever we get wont be to play with Freddy....

Unless Ron gets a bid of over £2.5 mill, Freddy will be here at the start of the season. However, he will leave in January, whatever happens.

Like your optimism but Freddy has stated he wants a move and he will be gone.

Why would Ron hold out for 2.5 million then sell him in January when he will get far far less ?

I stand to be shot down in flames here, but just wait and see.

A week has passed since Wolves original offer - Norwich have now offered 1.5 million. It seems to me the bidding war has begun. Already 500k has been put on his price. We will get at least 2 million, there are so many names that have been linked and they know what it is going to take to bring him in. January is the time to accept undervalue offers.

Interesting to see though that Tilly doesn't share the widely stated, but thankfully not universally accepted, view that Matt Harrold is cack.

I'm going to go with the assumption that Tilly, as a professional footballer, qualified coach, and reasonably successful manager, knows far more than the qualities of the player than any of us do. If he thought he was cack he'd presumably have been banging down RM's door begging him to let Matty go.

Also if someone else has seen him (presumably) and recognised him as someone who could (again presumably) improve their squad, then that's another person in the game that recognises that the young man has potential.

I really am puzzled why Harrold gets so much credit from some fans. He is awful. Chuck him on for ten minutes when 3-1 down and yes he'll cause a bit of trouble as teams retreat and try to hang on.

But, when he starts a game he is truly awful. People berate Bradbury, but he does hold the ball up extremely well. Look how many goals we scored from midfield last season thanks to Bradders holding the ball up and allowing Maher and Gower to get up with play.

If Harrold starts every game next season we will not got promoted. We are more likely, in fact, to get relegated. Teams will be all over us and we will have no outlet to allow us to get out of defence.

A tad harsh I think...I think he brings something to the team. TBH, I don't really think we play the style of football that suits Harrold - he's a target man. But I don't think he's as bad as people make out. I thought he was brilliant away at Preston last year.

Chuck him on for 20-odd minutes when you're 3-1 down and he can be instrumental in getting you a point - Norwich at home, anyone?

Think you're being jolly harsh on Prince Harry there, by the way...

Matt

Yep I agree Matt. He brings something to the team I think...he's a nuisance. I thought he was great at Preston last season.

He's only a nuisance when teams are sitting back and defending on the 18 yard line. In those circumstances he's a nuisance as balls bouncing off his ginger nut are loose in the area.

But during the normal course of a game defenders hold their line forty to fifty yards out. Anything coming to Harry then is simply lost. And if its played to his feet he has no hope of controlling it. I remember one game last season when he had the ball played to him on the half way line and he was back in our area before he finally got the thing under control. You can learn things like positioning as you get older, but ball control is something he should have mastered in his pre-teens.

OK for the bench, but not to start.

Spot on - he is an option and may well be 'one for the future' (though I've not seen anything that will show he will improve!) - but do not want him starting games for us next year.

Ron Martin is right to hold on to Freddy until July at least, more club come in for Freddy, if Charlton sell Bent to Spurs, they will be in the running and they will splash out silly price for Freddy. I wish Birmingham was in the race for Freddy as well as they would put in 3 million max for him as they do in the past.

Iam not bashing Matt Harrold, I can see something in him, he did an good job last season and it not his fault that he was thrown in deep end if not for flop like Paynter and that fat cu@t who being realised by Preston as they know he is cack and cost them promotion big time.

Surely Harrold was given more of a chance than "flop" Paynter ?

Neither inspired me from what I saw but Paynter only played when we were at our worst yet you have written him off too...

Anyone go to the yeovil away game during our championship winning season when in the 2nd half when we had a corner 1 yeovil player tripped/tangled with his own team mate and ended up on the deck much to the amusement of the travelling supporters that day?.......well guess who that was? Matt harrold. Says it all imo.
