Eh? A bit of a leap there Tony. And your evidence is?
Well its unauthorised land! Thus it wont come under council tax banding will it.

But to live anywhere legally, you have to pay council tax.

I wonder If Tilly has considered signing Freddy Junior on a pre-contract agreement?

He could be playing for our 1st team in about 11-12 years when his old man is coming to then end of his illustrious Premiership & England career....

I could be wrong, but aren't places of worship exempt? If so, come on, it's Freddys place, surely that counts!

did they. I wonder why. I think it's a great story - the one about Freddy the Gypsy not the tawdry pile of crap in the Echo by the way. Front page headline would you believe and it might not even be our hero. 100,000 a year. They probably asked the girls in the office what they thought he was earning. Absolute f%&king garbage. Obviously a non news day.

Hopefully it'll fire Freddy up for tomorrow.
Oh and your the f%&king expert are you? Obviously not. Cranfield Park Road has 16 legal sites and 24 illegal sites. If Eastwood is on an illegal site, which by all accounts he is, then what given right has he to stay there? He has sited a park home on green belt without planning permission which makes his dwelling illegal. And before you start, I live in a legal park home which I had to get planning permission for. It took 3 months, all nice and legal and painless free. For a man earning what he is and still prefers to live illegally is out of order, whoever he is. If gypsies set up home next door to you or anyone else on this site then I doubt you would be taking this so lightheartedly. If he wants to live like a gypsy then hook up his caravan and let a horse pull it. He is no more romaney than I am. Its a poor excuse and it's about time he realised it. Fab footballer or not, he is not above the law.

Seb, I'm not disputing that. I'm a firm believer in fairness and if it's illegal he must be treated as any other person and treated fairly. If it's on green belt land without permsission then the law must prevail . It's a pity Prescott has muddied this little puddle in the last few years. However the piece was a poorly researched pile of crap. I don't mind investigative journalisn but this was nothing but a fishing expedition, not worthy of the front page.

that article is a load of wa nk, that "Freddy has failed to return repeated calls from the Echo to comment on the planning appeal" line just takes the ****. its just a mess of irrelevent facts that isn't in the public interest and intrusive into the life of someone who is trying to get this situation sorted.

and i dont think freddy earns 100k, 50k i think is much more realistic. and fm2006 has him earning 800 a week so could be even less.. but all this is irrelevent. if he is on an illegal site then its something that the council and he needs to sort out (which seems to be happening), so where is the newsworthy article!?!? its just shi t stirring and the fact that stories about gyspies seem to sell newspapers

Then lets chuck some hard core facts into the mix, just so the majority on this foram can grasp what im so against. Basildon is home to three illegal sites, Dale Farm, Meadow Lane and Cranfield Park Road. 150 illegal sites at Dale Farm, 12 at Meadow Lane and 24 at Cranfield Park Road. Freddy Eastwood has sited a park home on one of these sites on one of the illegal pitches which have been extended without planning permission or indeed any other permission that gutless councils give to so called minority groups.

The Evening Echo, who are at present deeply involved in a expose of false witness and evidence of supposed homeless traveller families has unearthed that a footballer earning the best part of six figures is occupying a illegal dwelling and seems to be pleading for a reprieve to live a life dating back 100 years.

Does common sense not tell the majority that the wool is being pulled over our eyes and Mr Eastwood is playing the age old race card that says he is a minority group just wanting to live to the life that he was born to?

It is rubbish to believe that he is anymore of a romany than my garden bench. Does he strike you as the Romanian/Bulgarian elk? That Eastern Europian look sort of loses it appeal when he is as blond as a blood lust viking and yes I am fully aware that his father has darker hair than your average Jamican.

The fact is he is trying to pull a fast one and I for one think that is bang out of order. I would gladly bulldoze his home along with the rest of the so called misplaced occupiers of those odious traveller sites.

Eastwood is not above the law just because he plays for Southend United.

sorry.

sure as hell any tax paying working class standard run of the mill person who built a place on his own land without planning permission would be prosecuted and ordered to pull it down but gypsies seem to get away with it more often than not. When they get moved on they just do the same thing on someone elses land. Southend hero or not why doesnt the guy just buy a house like the rest of us?
If he prefers to live in a caravan, buy some land and put one on it.
Most people on this site probably earn less than Freddy but still pay their taxes like law abiding citizens.

I find it quite ironic that you criticise the report's validity and accuracy and then cite Football Manager!

Someone told me the other day that, on said game, Agogo earns £2500 a week. Is this why that figures has been reported on these boards in the past?

What kind of authority do you think the researchers for this game have?

I've just had this interesting vision of Freddy rising through the ranks (in a Southend shirt) getting picked for England in time for Euro 98 and Debbie meeting up with the WAGS. That'd give the red tops something to write about.

It's also just occured to me that if anything goes drastically wrong in his career he can always revert to laying front driveways.

whether he's Ropmany or Gypsy I leave to the academics on the board.
smile.gif
However there's a good chance he is a gypsy as there are many in Essex most living in houses. We had a whole class of gypsy children at my school. Why do you think Bohemia Chase is called that? It used to be a gypsy site and many when they were offered the chance settled and built houses.

However I found this. Whether Freddy is one of THE Eastwoods or is masquerading I don't know. Should he live on unlicensed land? Of course not.

Most surnames used by Gypsies are also common in the "Gorjer" or non-Gypsy population. The best known and most widespread Gypsy families include:

* Boswell, Buckland, Faa, Hearn, Heron, Lee, Lovell, Smith, Wood, Young.

The following families all travelled in southern England:

* Ayres, Baker, Ball, Barnes, Barney, Bartlett, Bath, Beaney, Beckett, Birch, Black, Blackman, Bland, Bowers, Brazil, Buckley, Bull, Burton, Bushnell, Butler, Camfield, Carey, Carrington, Castle, Chapman, Clark, Cole/Coles, Collins, Coneley, Cooper, Cox, Cripps, Crocker, Crutcher/Croucher/Kircher, Curtis, Davis/Davies, Dawes, Deacon/Deakins, Dixon, Doe, Draper, Duckett, Eastwood, Elliot, Essex, Frankham, Giles, Golby, Green, Gregory, Griggs, Gritt, Groves, Hall, Harfield, Harris, Hibberd, Hicks, Hughes, Isaacs, James, Jeffs, Johnson, Jones, Keet, Kempster, King, Kircher, Lakey, Lamb, Lambert, Lane, Light, Loveridge, Matthews, Miller, Mills, Mitchell, Mustow, Newland, Odam, Orchard, Page, Pannell, Parker, Pateman, Penfold/Pinfold, Peters, Pidgley, Pike, Proudley, Rawlings/Rollins, Ray, Roberts, Rose, Rowell, Rowland/Rowlands, Sanders/Saunders, Scamp, Scott, Sheen, Sherred/Sherrard, Sherwood, Sines, Stanley, Stevens/Stephens, Stokes, Stratton, Tanner, Taylor, Thompson, Turner, Vincent, Wells, Wenman, Wheeler, White, Willett, Williams, Willis.

Does it really really matter if Freddy Eastwood is a Romany, Gypsy, or a blind one legged farmer from Indonesia?

He is a Southend United player and one who has given us a bloody great time since he signed.

Let him get on with his life, and if he's looknig for planning permission to buy a plot of land, living illegally, or shacked up with his great grandmother's aunty's great nephews dog's new owner.....it does not matter one bit!

As long as he continues to bang in the goals for the mighty Blues i will give him my 110% support.

It's up to him how he wants to live and i'm sure he'll play by the rules if needed.
