Fossets Farm - Statues?

many years ago I wrote an article for WTSSG saying we should have a statue of David Jack. In the end the Shrimpers Trust put a plaque up at his childhood home in Hamlet Court Drive (it being about £40,000 cheaper if The Big Shrimp is right) and a plaque on the Blue Boar. I'm quite serious about this statue/bust idea. I will pursue.

Ha, my mate lives in that flat in Hamlet Court Road! He's a spurs fan though so doesnt appreciate the heritage.....!

just received the following from one firm (not the BlackIsle foundry)


Yes we can sculpt and produce a life size Bust. The modelling and production cost is likely to be in the region of £9-10000.
It will take quite some time to produce about 5-6 months.
A full size statue is double the cost.
These are very rough guide prices which can be firmed up once the photo is seen and accurate costings made.

No - that was Tony somebody else that used to be the fat builder - got seriously disenchanted with the club and I think now runs a sports shop on Canvey.

Tony Hall. The man who produced WTSSG and was instrumental in the reforming of the supporters club (now Shrimpers Trust) about 10 years ago.

That sounds good. Much cheaper than I thought it would be.
I know some people have concerns about vandals but I've never seen any evidence at other grounds. People always seem to be having their photos taken with them before the game, I know I have!
I know we are jumping the gun and the first brick has yet to be laid for the ground, but if we are seriously thinking of doing this we will need time to get that kind of money!

Tony had a few shops ,the last being Thalo sports in Thorpe bay broadway (Thalo being the initials of his 5 kids). He closed the shops and moved to france about 6 months ago. IIRC He had a big bust up with John Main about Junior Blues

You could have him in his going up for a header pose. It would look exactly same as his regular pose with both feet planted firmly on the ground and a bemused look on his face!

I would go for the same idea that some bloke in basildon had, plaster cast's of female southend fan's boobs. It would be great to tap them for luck as we enter the ground. They would have to be about head height with some older ones quite a bit lower.... get casting
