Breaking News Former Shrimpers player and manager Alan Little has passed away

Just posted up on SUEPA channels:

"We are saddened to learn of the passing of our former player and manager Alan Little who we met up at Halifax three years ago (second left) and more recently at York. He was a lovely man, and will be sorely missed. RIP Alan, forever a Shrimper 💙"

York have just paid tribute to him and I have messaged our club, especially as we play York on Saturday, to see if they might be able to do anything to pay respects

How befitting and ironic at the same time we are playing York Saturday!

Little was a strange one, I’m too young to speak for his playing career with us but as a manager I thought he was not as bad as many at the time have said.

In fact if I recall we were in a good position in the league and on from when the rat 🐀 decided to sack him.

Also I remember little was responsible for bringing in some key and well known players who would go on to do well for us.
Martin Carruthers being just one example, Neil Tolson was another, had he stayed fit that was quite the striking partnership.
Also thought Mark Tinkler was not bad.

RIP Alan Little

RIP Alan a fine manager and footballer who served this club with distinction, never forgotten.

Very sad news. Far too young as well. Its always sad to hear about the loss of a former Shrimper, and even more poignant that he has gone a couple of days ahead of one of his other sides, York City.

As York has been a huge ally over the last couple of seasons, I hope that a fitting tribute will be agreed to take place, with both sides offering our condolences to Alan' family and friends.

Sleep well Alan
