Former Peterborough boss Dave Robertson set for under 21 job at Southend United

you mean apart from Steve Thompson (asst to Murphy), Colin Murphy (director of football above Taylor), Tilson (academy manager), Newman (Webb assistant), I'm sure there's more before this.

Yeah, but apart from them, there's not many.

He wore a nice jumper at the League game the other week I thought. Better than Phil Brown's tan shoes and blue suit combo anyway.

I don't know enough about the guy to comment, but look on the bright side as we could have appointed Westley (Graham not Shane) for the role.

I read jam_man's post to be that we have not promoted people to First team manager.

Paul Clarke
Ronnie Whelan
Players to player Manager

The guy is an ex squaddie, he obviously expects the best from his troops and pushes them hard. He won't always be liked by all his troops but (as an ex squaddie) will be respected, even if not liked. Good luck to him, he obviously has something about him otherwise the Posh wouldn't have appointed him as manager....... Seems like a good signing and a good team player to what is a (big) experienced back room team.

I may be rather naive but with a seemingly experienced management team already in place - do we need more expense?
PB is the boss and has his team around him. The U21 team does not play regularly and never on the same day as a first team fixture. So...why can the current management staff not manage the entire squad? Select the team and subs for the first team and watch the rest in the irregular U21 matches.
The management team could implement a core, club philosophy that players learn and get involved with, no matter if they play in the first team or U21's.
It just seems crazy to have different managers of different level teams. They could work in training and then either PB, GC or RD take the manager role in matches below first team level.
Mr Naive.

Yeah it is surprising why Coughlan can't just do the job. Maybe it's a sign of how seriously we're taking it and that we want to keep the U-21s separate from the first team. They are essentially 2 different teams so I guess it makes sense.

The U21 role has to be dedicated as per our EPPP commitments.

Still a chance Maher will get a coaching role too.

If we're gunning for Cat 2 status before too long then we'll need substantially more full-time coaches on our books to ensure contact time is above a set level (depends on the age, can't remember the parameters). This is where we can accommodate Maher, not in a role like this.

why are we trying to accommodate Maher?

Favourite son? Or maybe because we owe him a testimonial and he might be ok as a coach. The list is endless dependent on your view of the guy.

Look like the experienced players that scums signed is transforming their season as they are leading at Swindon
