Post-Match Thread and Ratings Forest Green 2-2 Southend United..We win on Penalites 4-2

We need to sign Goodliffe asap. Not as a CB but a number 9.

Forget the one-two with Bridge. It was winning the header from the clearance in the first place. Steered it down nicely and left his man in a heap. That left FGR 3 v 4 that late in the second half of extra time. No amount of pen waving and laptop checking could ever come up with that.

If any man deserved to score that equaliser then it has to be Bridge. As for this season who other than GSM for the pen.

Its now everyones duty to round up your old Shrimper mates. Lets aim for 30,000 at Wembley.

We watched Cotterill's interview this morning over a cup of tea. Certainly a very distressed man. The thought of losing that game had never crossed his mind...........until it did. He did manage a modicum of praise for Southend though.
I did too. I genuinely think they thought because of their riches it was going to be a walk in the park. They clearly underestimated the will to win of this club, and as Aaron Mclean said in co-commentary last night, it was a case of who "needed it" more and without question, that was Southend United. If Cotterill did in fact go into the SUFC dressing room and shake everyone's hand as he said, that was a very classy touch when he was clearly very disappointed and as he said, had not contemplated defeat prior to the match.

I'd say he's been missing since at least 15th March when we last visited Nailsworth FC.

Completely ineffectual (and missed a good chance to secure the win last night) but probably significantly wealthier than he would have been had he stayed at SUFC.
Yea, good luck to him. Made a decision to suit his family and you can't take that away from him. Was an integral part of our team and he'll always be remembered for that. You can't help but smile though!

Hayes 4 sorry on this night of joy but his kicking is his biggest asset….refuses to command his box and not even a good shot stopper, the toothless veggies wouldn’t have scored if we had a proper keeper
Goodliffe 8 has his dodgy moments but more than re pays them in other ways, sign
him up

Ralph 7 Mr dependable is still doing it
Taylor 7 more like his last ditch self
Gus 8 his energy and general attacking play like KAF rubs on to everyone else, great bottle at the end as well
Parillon 7 always adds something different with his skills and hopefully gets stronger with experience?
Husin 6 still don’t get why he is cemented in every week…Miley looking good enough to take over
Coker 6 another one that has gone backwards in the last 2 months
KAF 8 always going to be MOM most weeks with his tenacity and general play, unlucky not to score, distribution needs shoring up
Kendall 7 like KAF doesn’t let the opposition rest with his pressing and we know he can put it away as well
Hopper 8 has gone from a waste of time signing to first on the team sheet. Leads the line, defends well and can score given the opportunity.
Maher 1 Most of us nil
Miley 7 great bit of skill and shot, he ain’t far off
Gubbins 7 great penalty, that’s his ability, can kick a ball and pass
Walker 5 pen miss and offers little, time to part
Bonne 7 people were saying he had an attitude….yes, a very good one. Still got pace and a brain, well good enough to add something in this League
Bridge 7 was thinking he was on his way out and ends up taking us to Wembley with a well taken goal and an even better penalty
Maher 10…..massive transformation in the last month with much less defensive mind set. This is a very average League that needed attacking…..3 signings that do that are KAF, Parillon and Kendall and they have all been utilised to perfection. Walker, Hayes (probably enforced) and out of form Husin selections are a worry but he knew best👍
You forgot Goodliffe

Incredible. Think I broke my toe when Bridge scored! When it first came across to him I wondered how he would finish through the bodies and Boooommm!

Love to see the camaraderie and fighting spirit of this team.

My immediate thought is wondering what the club can do to get the noisy fans together to create an atmosphere at the home of football on 1 June!

Just 6 months ago there were plenty of posts on here claiming COSU need to spend to get out of the NL......York and FGR were perfect examples of how spending rewards you......Money can buy you talent but it can't by your heart or your soul.

Everyone involved in SUFC deserves their day at Wembley. Nobody handed it to us. We have earned it with blood sweat and tears. What a great few weeks to tell the world your a proud Shrimper.

Latic in peace here.

I’m chuffed you guys turned FGR (and Rochdale) over. FGR are such a boring, pain in the arse club, with a ground I vowed never to visit ever again as it’s in the middle of nowhere.

But the main reason is, you’re a proper club. Too big to be in this division like us, and we’ve both earned our day out Wembley. We’ve both had some dark times in recent years, so it’s great to see both clubs seeing light at the end of the tunnel (we’re probably further down that tunnel than you, though).

You do worry me though, you have momentum, clearly have a lot of fight with the comebacks you’ve produced, but on the flip side, we look a completely different outfit now all our injured players are back and fit. We’ve made York look ordinary and, well, Halifax are awful.

Good luck, but not too much.
The dream final mate. Oldham v southend 55k plus no worries.

Did he? He spent all game saying how wonderful Cotterill was.
To be fair I was at Roots Hall and we didn't get any commentary before the game so have no idea what he said. All we heard was his in game commentary where it was all about Cotterill
mate you need to watch the DAZN show on Youtube - he tipped us for the final. He also loves Kev

Wow unbelievable Jeff.

Woke up in the middle of the night and thought about the Bridge goal, woke up in the morning and thought about the Bridge goal.

Goodliffe excellent I hope we can put in an offer for him.

Wembley is amazing but scary, we just have to win this... come on!

We need a singers section at wembley. I the atmosphere was flat against Wrexham and who ever else but Wycombe I remember with all the singers in the bottom tier it generated such a good vibe. Someone needs to organize again.
