For those who were calling for Tilson to go on here

Anybody that thinks Tilson should go is mad, If we were to get a new manager he would need his own players an hang on we haven't got the money which is why we are were we are now getting loan players. As a club we have to stick together from the manager to the fans all the way through. We know the stadium will be superb an the money is being put elsewhere into the club an not on the field But still the club. What im getting at is Tilly is doing the best he can with a situation which is mainly out of his hands...

Get a grip, this is one game, we'll be out next round, what about all the rest of the season when we're stuck in the lower half of this league, next year when we are still here, the rubbish we have to watch home and away week in week out, 1 goal in the last 6 league games is appauling, 1 win in the last 9 league games? rubbish, he still has to go for me.

weren't you pretending to be an oldham fan earlier in the season?

Crikey - even Hitler didn't deserve that!

The Liverpool draw was at home as well.

Yep it was at home, but Liverpool team was the team that went on to dominate english football for a decade and were reigning European Champions, not pretentious wannabe's.

Only one sub, but their sub was Steve Heighway The rest of their team were all extablished internationals, so for me both results were as outstanding in their respective era's.

Unless we're making that very point to illustrate that we've been average rather than shocking over the course of the season?

Like I say, we'll see come May. I still think we are still going to struggle this year and could end up in a scrap.

Yesterday is for nought if we lose to Crewe on Saturday. Hopefully the Chelsea game with give the lads a bit of a confidence boost and it can kickstart us, but I still think we lack any creativity...

Have to say Laurent looked a different player on the wing.

Turned Cole brilliantly and had a couple of good runs, dragging Chelsea players out of position...tho I am sure he was playing up front by then and just running the channels..sure we went 442 when the 3 subs were made!!

I don't know if you realize but we didn't beat Chelsea yesterday we drew with them!! Still I am sure none of us will be too unhappy if we lose in the next round having beaten Chelsea.
I know I said that those saying Tilson should go after yesterday should be sentenced to a lifetime of watching Colchester but for you I think that should be extended to a lifetime of watching Colchester one week and Leyton Orient the next.

I don't see how 1 good result, makes up for all the rubbish that is being dished up in recent weeks and for our below expectation league position.

Your expectations are high then!

GLORY HUNTER!!

Who are you cheering on next week?
Shame you had to stop cheering Oldham after they lost a few.

Never will forget the Kop stying behind after Liverpool had left the field applauding our team off the pitch in the return leg, and those who we made it to Anfield made a right racket. Very sporting.

Never will forget the mental images of Derek Parker clean through twice one on one against Ray Clemence at 0-0, who managed to dive and smoother DP attempts to go round him on both occasions.

But I think yesterday is up there with the best.

It's never dull following Southend.

Can't be 30 years ago surely. Seems like only yesterday.

Ah the Liverpool game brings back happy memories sitting on my uncle's shoulders in the South bank. Remember the Liverpool fans letting off a big red smoke bomb and the spray painting of liverpool fc on the railway bridge at Prittlewell.

I'm afraid it is, Cricko had just got his first bus pass and winter fuel allowance of a fiver.;)

Derrick Parker left Emlyn Hughes on his arse and was clean through, I always swore that if I met him I'd kick him. During our Championship season I met him in the bar (he was covering the Barnsley game for local radio), and he said he had been kicking himself for over 25 years.

No regrets the team were magnificient on the night.

Seem to think the kop also sang some Southend chant in the last 5 mnutes when the game was won, but the old grey cells cannot recount which one, anyone help me out here ?

IIRC Liverpool scored 2 in the last 8/10 minutes or so, when we finally ran out of steam. I don't remember the Kop singing Southend songs but do remember the ovation at the end of the match great days.

I just checked the SUFC Database and today is the anniversary of another great away day when we beat Swindon 2-0 away in 1969, that was a great day out.

The only one i can recall from that night was when they sang Southend (clap clap clap) and repeated it a few times towards the end. We left the ground thinking everyone would be o.k. and then had to run a gauntlet of hundreds of scallies looking for blood ( and sheepskins, wallets, and anything else they could get their hands on). Ruined a fantastic evening as you can imagine.
