For those who were calling for Tilson to go on here

Csboy

Manager
Yes you know who you are and we know who you are. Even in Tilson's poorest season he still gives us the finest FA Cup result in the clubs history. Not bad for a manager who has clearly lost his way and taken us as far as he can.

Tilson is Southends manager now he will be next week and for many more years to come.
All those who were calling for him to go should hold their heads in shame and be sentenced to a lifetime of watching Colchester United.

Holding a full strength Liverpool to 0-0 in '79 was something spectacular, but spot on with the rest of the comments!

Maybe that is worth a debate which is better the Liverpool 79 game or todays game. Tough one to call but I think seeing as we got a draw at Chelsea I think it has to be todays game, plus it wasn't snowing either.

True but lets see how we get on the league, thats the most important thing. Got 6 league games in January and the window so its a massive month. Definitely one of our finest hours though, they all seem to have come in Tilly's reign.

Tilly deserves a lot of praise for today... when I heard the starting lineup I was worried. Very worried when I heard the Chelsea XI. Tilly adapted the formation and made us tough to get through, keeping us in the game. Then with us just a goal behind his substitutions made the difference to help us nick a point we didn't deserve!!!

Well done Tilly :)

When so many panned him a couple of weeks ago for blaming a couple of bad results on luck, it was interesting to hear ST put our victory today down to the same - even despite his tactical changes which first kept the game within our grasp, then delivered us a draw.

The OPs comments will be directed towards me as much as anyone i suppose after my post last week.

I have refrained from posting too much as I expected this knee-jerk reaction to the few of us that feel things are going south under Tilly. Massive credit to Tilly and the lads today of course - but it is a one off today and as others have said, its over the course of a season that counts.

But like I said, I'm not going to come out blazing to defend myself and my views as they are unchanged and lets see what happens come May.

For now though, lets enjoy it and not start petty rows on SZ because you are on a high after returning from the Bridge.

Whilst the result was an one-off and was probably fortunate, do you not take great heart at the defensive improvement made, the performance of Herd, the signing of Mildenhall, the difference Grant has made defensively in recent weeks?

and the signing of Christophe aswell.

Crikey - even Hitler didn't deserve that!

The Liverpool draw was at home as well.

Get a grip, this is one game, we'll be out next round, what about all the rest of the season when we're stuck in the lower half of this league, next year when we are still here, the rubbish we have to watch home and away week in week out, 1 goal in the last 6 league games is appauling, 1 win in the last 9 league games? rubbish, he still has to go for me.

:net::net::net:

KingKev is the type of "man" that would bonk Miss World and then moan because she can't cook.

I don't see how 1 good result, makes up for all the rubbish that is being dished up in recent weeks and for our below expectation league position.

:D Our best ever manager. Jog on son.

...and if you look at similar posts/threads from this time last year you'll see a similar vein, and look where we finished then. As the old cliche says the league is a marathon (certainly not a Snickers) not a sprint. It may be a good idea to judge our season in May.
