I do feel for RM in a way, because I assume, the banking crisis hit at the exact time he was about to ask for the funds from the relevant backers...and ever since, somehow he's managed to keep the club afloat which I applaud him for. My concern though, which you just be sick of hearing from me, is that one day the bills will outweigh the income and we'll collapse overnight.
Is there anything we (or anyone) can do in the best interests of the club to help the situation, which RM would accept as a viable alternative going forward ?

I think Sainsbury's are the real Villains in the whole saga. As they were with Bristol Rovers. Risking the future of both clubs as a back-up for their expansion plans. Yes I understand they have to make tough business decisions but they have deliberately continued to dangle the carrot with no intention of continuing with the project.

I think now that we have BL on board it is in fact the viable alternative. I know this has been going on for 31 years but BL are fairly new partners so they have to be given a chance. I firmly believe they are our best option.

Some have said we are back to square one, but that is certainly not the case. The principle of developing FF and using green belt for the training pitches etc have all been agreed in 2008.

Yes the application has been delayed but that would hardly be Ron's fault. The snail paced council will look at your plans before the official bimonthly planning meetings and suggest changes etc. So it easily delayed for 6 months. Unfortunately no one can speed them up or force it through as it has to be right to get approval. I know this is shrimpermoan but surly we must trust BL on these sort of problems.

What can we do to help. Well the Club will be up against the weight of the High Street, lots of people in that gang won't care whether the plan will benefit our town only what's in it for them. The other major concern will be the increase in traffic for an area of town that has never had its infrastructure upgraded to the 21st century. Not our fault but it will be used against us.

The NIMBY's will use anything to stop a development and I guarantee they will be campaigning much harder than any of us fans. So maybe a bit like team we need to up our game. After all the hard work it would be a real shame to be 2-0 up and cruising only throw it all away.

Not to mention the Seaway scheme which is due to be submitted soon. If that one goes ahead, we're going to have a bleak future as it will kill all hope for FF. Luckily it seems to have been designed by a six-year-old.

No I can't say 100% because neither have Sainsbury's. I believe they have not purchased the extra land they needed for access. So at the moment they could not proceed with the plan even if they wanted to.

Talking to Ron Woodley I get the impression the council are now more concerned with their obligation to build 7000 homes. I've always thought the RH site was not the best for any Supermarket and they are no longer in short supply. So it may actually now suite everyone for it to become housing without the need for any CPO's to be implemented.

I have been told by a Sainsbury's employee that they intend to spend a large amount of money on the Town centre store. Obviously that makes it sound like they intend to keep that store. Which could actually help the FF application because it keeps a lot of footfall close to the High street. I myself have often parked in Sainsbury's and popped down the town for twenty minutes before I do my shopping in the store and claim my £1 back at the till.

Best option for all concerned would be... Cinema at FF... Housing at RH...something more in keeping for a 21st century sea side town in the seaway car park.
