I have replied to the FL response and asked them to actually answer the questions I have asked and not choose to ignore it.

I will, of course, let you know the further response.

But you cannot avoid fining teams just because they have no money!

Of course not, but I happen to think they probably made an honest mistake and ploughing a load of cash into the Football League kitty (most of which goes to the Championship clubs) by way of an exemplary fine, is hardly going to help matters.

Really what would it have been then ?

What would you have wanted them to say? A heavy fine for Accrington perhaps? That wouldn't help that particular "have not".

Purely and simply Accrington screwed up.

It wasn't the referee's fault, it certainly wasn't the fault of the FL or the FA.

Perhaps they'll make some sort of gesture for the re-arranged match ?

Didn't Vic Jobson once fork out for burger and chips when a late call-off happened on a Tuesday night in Grimsby once?
Ron out. You heard it here first.

Don't think Accrington handled this very well, but equally don't think they could have prevented people from travelling. If the pitch was playable on Friday and rain fell overnight, then ref couldn't have called it off until the morning, by which time many will have set off already. Accrington should have got the ref in on the Friday to get his opinion and they didn't. Why? Probably because calling the game off costs a **** load of money to them in lost revenues, not to mention cashflow blips.

I bought a program... and then the rather splendid young lass in the club shop refunded me the money once the game was called off...
I thought it was a bit of a shambles but these things happen in football from time to time.. I have been going home and away for 21 years and this is the first time for me

I remember when we played Scunthorpe at home on a Tuesday night in January a couple of years ago and the game was called off 15 minutes before kick-off!

Good old Keith Hill, we'll miss him !

I actually remember going to Scunthorpe away three times one season; two postponements and third time lucky !!
