Echo News Five talking points from the Shrimpers Trust's AGM this evening

With a transfer sub-committee split across many different time zones (US, HK, AUS, UK etc) and using many different layers, it is inevitably going to lead to delay and frustration. With Kev stuck in the middle and probably taking unwarranted flack from fans, when the transfer activity is so slow or non-existent.

We need to be able to move fast in the transfer market, not wait for people with 9 or 10 hours time difference to give the nod. I'm all for data being used, but it needs to be good data or the output is completely worthless.

You see how frustrated Kev is with it all. It's a nonsense at this level.
My current workplace has offices globally, with the CEO in California.

The only way it works is by granting those closest to what's happening autonomy to make the right calls.

We'd get nothing done if we were constantly waiting until those in PST wake up.

I think they might use a few more stats than Wikipedia goals:games ratios.

Plenty of data on most players who have been at academies higher up (which seems to be the players we target) that have been through that higher level education and then released/loaned out

Data from younger years in academies + Scouting from their stints on loan or when they got released to Non-league/lower league and bobs ya uncle we’ve got “data led decisions”
the data they will be using is the data recorded when the player wears the GPS vest.

this can record data during training or a real match.

it is very common for clubs to register an interest in a player and get them to wear a tracker.

there are even rumours of PL clubs buying whole youth teams the tracker equipment when they are interested in only one player.

the dataset used to assess the potential of a prospective signing is significant and very varied.

data led decisions will not be a simple peek at the goals per game ratio.

they'll be a lot more subtle and nuanced.

For example, using the tracker you can assess a player's ability to follow the coaching instructions or to see if the player understands the manager's tactics.

Do they also track if they're nipping off to McDonald's for a cheeky QTR pounder?

Im really so pleased for us and COSU that our income is up by £750,000. That is amazing and apparently according to Tom, mainly down to TICKET SALES and commercial sales. I think Ron used to argue it meant nothing, whilst desperately pressing every hoodwinking button he could to get the cash upfront from fans

Not sure whether that reduces our £2m hole to £1.250m but hope so. Thats been helped by the good efforts and improvements around the place that are ongoing but essentially the great response in our support since the Rat departed and the brave attitude prevalent from COSU

The question now becomes how will that level of support be sustained? The dilemma around budget and recruitment

Im so grateful to COSU and their approach to plan for our sustainability as a priority and thats brilliant They of course though are here temporarily

We are the beating heart of our club, not just customers, but the real custodians, We hold the identity and Heritage closer than anyone. We represent generations of support, intense loyalty and that fantastic community spirit. My children will keep that going and hopefully their ancestors

We would not be here today but for COSU but even then if they failed plans were afoot for the phoenix club in one form or another to emerge and bring us back to life such is the fans commitment

And so it becomes what will COSU do to sustain that level ticket sales and season tickets? Yes patience is clearly needed but you wouldnt want those support levels to drop off

I don't think it reduces the £2m as it was also reported that cost of sales had also risen 750k. I'm not sure what's included in the costs - hopefully it's not increased costs of stewarding and corporate otherwise it seems a bit of a waste increasing the revenue!!!
