Echo News Five talking points from the Shrimpers Trust's AGM this evening and The Trust's Report

That looks incredibly cheap and cheerful.

What happened to the idea of following Notts County’s Nest? A far more homely environment, especially in the winter months. How many people will opt to sit under that deluxe golf umbrella in the wind and rain?

I’ve said this before too, the fanzone absolutely needs to have TV’s to show the away games (which are streamable). We’ve got Boston on Wednesday night, a fanzone could have attracted several hundred people wanting to watch the game with fellow shrimpers. That is potentially thousands in revenue being missed out on.

But if they decide to go the route of that summer fete nonsense in the pic above, they might as well not bother.
A ver wise thought hopefully can be taken on board

Agreed that would be so much better.

Spot on.

I’d be incredibly disappointed if ours was to be like Gillingham.

Out of curiosity, are out streamable matches, where you pay for a pass to watch, are they allowed to be purchased and shown to masses?

I know when pubs pay for Sky, it has the pint glass in the bottom corner. Is there anything like that for DAZN, or can a pub buy a normal match pass and then display it like normal?

I saw Dagenham promote their midweek game at Forest Green being shown at their clubhouse, so must be doable.

Just searched and there is a dedicated DAZN commercial website, so I assume they'd have to sign up to this for it to be possible (prices seem fair)

The Nest above looks fantastic! Similar to the one I visited at Feyenoord.

Yep, there is a "Commercial" license which I think used to be around £100 per month.

It could be used for lots of events outside the clubs demands as well and would be a perfect venue for The Trust meet ups, local football teams do's , the Euro's etc etc. I guess the position of it will be crucial for licensing reasons and to stop the nimby's kicking off.

I loved Wycombe’s one when I first saw it, (the wasps aside) but that was over 10 years ago. Things like The Nest have shown how far the fanzone has evolved though and what it could be.

It’s obviously more in outlay, and it’s easy for me/us to demand more when we’re not paying for it, but I will be bitterly disappointed if COSU decide to go the Happy Shopper route & sling up a big marquee with some wooden picnic tables underneath it.

Again I have to mention the game against Boston this coming Wednesday. Imagine a Nest style fanzone. Warm. Welcoming. Food and drink offers. Southend on the big screen. Even if you pulled in 100 fans, that is thousands of pounds in sales.

this is something I have mentioned before but using the Shrimpers Bar instead

To what extent is the long term solution planned to be in the new East Stand? That may influence the level of investment

Good point.

But If the renovations are 2-3 years away from commencing, I would assume the stand and it’s additional income streams won’t be operational for 4-5 years?

You’d have thought a decent fanzone should not only pay for itself in that time, but would generate enough revenue to make it worthwhile.

Sorry, I did actually mean Gillingham, but the points still remain.
