Films you've watched recently.

"Peeping Tom" reviled in 1960 and now it is revered......

I like Donald Pleasence he was a very good actor.
Harry H Corbett, pre Steptoe, Betty Marsden from ''Beyond our Ken' and 'Round the Horne' and William Franklyn of the Shweppes adverts among the stalwarts in the cast. A pretty scathing look at office politics with a downbeat ending. Superior B film of its time.

We saw Let Him Go with Kevin Costner and .Lesley Manville on the box. OK film with great outdoor locations but I'm mentioning it because of Lesley Manville. What an actress. After seeing her in Mrs Harris goes to Paris where she plays a really nice warm person in Let Him Go she definitely doesn't. A real actress

Lesley is the most amazing talent.

I watched the Empire Strikes Back dubbed in French as part of my GCSE.
I’ve only watched the original Star Wars at the fabulous Odeon. The film was fantastic. I can’t explain why I’ve not watched the rest of the spin offs except to say I have no appetite to do so but I’d watch the original again for sure.

Saw Sam Mendes's Empire of Light earlier.Wonderfuld British film on so many levels. My brother -in -law (who saw the film, which is set in Margate,a few weeks ago in Avignon) said the seaside scenes reminded him of SOS.Never been but can see the comparison.
A good film----A real shame that the lovely cinema was a film set.

The resistance banker - subtitles
Currently on Netflix. True story of how two brothers funded the Dutch resistance during WW2. I didn’t know the story so can’t comment on accuracy Highly recommend the film to anyone with an interest in WW11. Make sure you watch the credits with home cine film of the brothers
