Just got this:

DANCING ON THE GRAVE OF CAPITALISM
AN ANTI-CAPITALIST HALLOWEEN PARTY
CANARY WHARF – FRIDAY 31 OCTOBER 2008
A number of anti-capitalist and anarchist groups are planning a*demonstration at Canary Wharf on the evening of Friday 31 October, focusing on 25 Bank Street and themed as "dancing on the grave of capitalism". Participants intend to congregate outside the main entrance to the Canary Wharf Underground station, adjacent to Reuters Plaza.* The organisers have publicised the event widely. We do not know how many people will take part but it is possible it could involve large numbers.* Participants may be wearing Halloween themed fancy dress and may also seek to gain entrance to buildings or approach people on the Estate in order to conduct 'trick or treat'.
Although this event has not been sanctioned by Canary Wharf Group, the Canary Wharf security department has been aware of it for some time and are liaising closely with the Metropolitan Police.*
Organisers of the event*have specifically stated that the event will be non violent, however, we cannot exclude the possibility of violence and have planned accordingly.* As such there will be an enhanced police and security presence on the Estate.*

Never going to live up to the old May Day riots in the City.

What evidence is there of that being organised by students? Students wouldn't organise a protest on Halloween - they'd go out and get ratarsed instead!

was chatting to a young student the other week, this lad was studying some jumped up pile of tosh, anyway his outlook on life was bizarre to say the least and he was a complete twit.

of course not every student is the same

Perhaps you could have a joint party on how wonderful capitalism is because it's been such a triumph of late hasn't it?

It's the only system that works. It's not perfect and the current crisis is ample evidence of that, but communist experiments the world over have been resounding failures. I didn't notice the people of West Berlin risking their lives to escape into communist East Germany.

Agreed, communism is not the answer either. But Swedish seems to tick over quite nicely on a rather more socialist ideal.

Actually China showed that the two combined brought about a better solution then either . Your right in saying its not the system as mad insne buggers who kill 25 million are just as bad as Crusading demoracy who "liberate" countries for their own finacal gain.

Whats missing is the balance.

bloody nora,

go back to 1975

i could go out with £2.50 and buy the following

1 microdot tab
8 pints of light and bitter
pie and chips
20 number 6
and still have change!!!!!

Common sense and reason yet again sir. Marvellous.

This reminds me of a rather splendid game me and the chaps used to play when we were out having high jinks: -

'Who can smack the most students around the back of the head with their Polo stick thing.'

Splendid Fun!

This game was best when riding one's polo pony - better than polo itself, but not as much fun as fox hunting.

I know. I used to be able to buy a Mars bar for less than 20p. Sometimes even 10p if a 'special' promotion. It's a disgraceful price now.
