Question February fixtures: How many points?

We have a very busy month ahead! Looking at the fixtures, the whole squad will definitely be needed. If we are serious about trying to challenge for the playoffs, home games against Halifax and Rochdale are huge games. We also have 3 home games in a row in that run.

How many points do you think we will get?

If we look back at the last few games we can see that we (Southend United) have beaten teams in the middle of the league & those towards the bottom (and kept clean sheets) .............. but then we have also lost (some might say capitulated) in our games against York & Barnet.

If we are to be in the hunt for a play-off place (and then to be in the play-offs) the team need to start showing that we can get points on the board from teams in the top ten - these teams will also be harbouring their own play-off thoughts.

The good news is the style of play from the last two league games. And we have little in terms of injuries & and an improving overall squad.

Play as we can & play to our strengths, get some decent refeering/linesmen and I think we can get 15 points.

I know, I know - I will go & take my medication now.

I do agree but our record against those teams above isn't as bad as we may think. We've beaten Rochdale, Halifax and Solihull. We also drew with both Oldham and FGR's. We also beat Eastleigh who are just below us.

Losing to Barnet and York isn't the end of the world for a team in transition. Unfortunately, we just aren't there yet in terms of matching their squad.

I don't think it's the case that we beat the lower teams and lose to the top teams, I just think it's a case of consistency. Get that right, and we will be alright.

I'd like to see us get 13 points as we have a tricky run of fixtures in March & April: Altrincham home, FGR & Eastleigh away, Oldham home, Sutton away & Solihull home.
Yep. Starting to get 16/17 season-y. A generally nice run of results after Christmas that may prove to be unsustainable.

I should cocoa .......

39 points so far from 28 games = average of 1.39 ............ hence midtable.

That would equal 7 points for 5 games in February.

That is not going to cut the mustard.

February see's us playing a total of 6 games in 22 days with 4 of them at home. Start off with a decent win on Saturday and by the end of the month I can see us knocking on the door of the play-offs.
I'm going for 13 points and a place in the 1/4 finals of the Trophy.

Halifax have the best away record in the league. from the 14 games they have 7 more points than we have secured at home. they have the third best defence letting in only 24 all season .. that going to be a test of our new attacking strategy

Rochdale, currently in the play offs, have 4 games in hand over us. im no fan of the 'must win game' at this stage of the season. but we really dont want to lose these 2

As some ad disclaimers state, 'past performance is no guarantee of future performance... ".

We have the beginnings of a different looking squad, tweak in formation and are slowly building momentum.

Obviously, things might get derailed, but if we can keep players fit, keep clean sheets, maintain our more attacking play... I'd hope for 10 or 11 points in Feb.
