FC - Week 13

Southend 301 All Out
the_yak_pak 248 All Out
Southend 168-3

Strong position into tomorrow, which has bowler friendly overhead conditions. Coupled with the green pitch, I'd like to think we have enough. Will declare with a 300 lead, which should leave 80-90 overs to bowl them out.

Opps declared on 400-2 against my prime bowling attack :D though Hastings only conceded 53 in 27 and Blinkhorn 90 in 36. I'm 3-1 and still 30 runs behind. Despite making 367 in the first innings I've no doubt I'll get skittled for 150 and this will be all over by tea :(

Took 2 wickets right at the COP so they trail by 34 runs with 3 wickets left. Set to declare after i notch up 215 runs and then have a bowl at them from half 2 and see if i can take 10 wickets!!

I've clinched promotion this morning, after the 2nd placed side failed to take the 9 wickets required to have a chance of catching me. 2 promotions down, 1 to go :whistling:

End of Over 57 (3 runs). Southend: 251-3, runrate=4.40 (1st Inn: 301-10)
Lead by 304 runs. (the_yak_pack 248-10)
Overs left today: 92
Simmons 9-0-50-0
Hazel* 48 (80 balls)
Davenport 119 (130 balls)
Last Wicket: Granville c. Momberg b. Schofield 6 (FOW: 130/3)

And we have declared. 92 overs to bowl them out, or for them to get 305 runs. They made 248 in 91 overs first innings in better batting conditions, so it should be safe.

End of Over 16 (3 runs). General Stars: 45-3, runrate=2.81 (1st Inn: 336-10)
Lead by 61 runs. (Quatt boys 320-10)
Overs left today: 80
Nevins 1-0-3-0
Sookram* 9 (20 balls)
Waterhouse 30 (48 balls)

Last Wicket: Deane b. Forrest 4 (FOW: 16/3)

Perhaps a result is looming after all, be it positive or negative!

2nd place Floggers cruising towards a draw so looks like I will be promoted whatever the outcome next week.

End of Over 79 (10 runs). highton : 305-2, runrate=3.86 (1st Inn: 400-8 dec)
Lead by 305 runs. (Bishop Floggers 400-3 dec)
Overs left today: 46
Abbey 18-0-86-0
Stock* 35 (41 balls)
Bracey 99 (123 balls)

Last Wicket: Quinn b. Mellor 123 (FOW: 236/2)

Momberg* 76 (121 balls)
Kirk 35 (48 balls)
Last Wicket: Simmons b. Rennie 5 (FOW: 111/6)

This is the last pair, but they're putting on a stand. Could be a tense finish.

End of Over 51 (8 runs, 1b). General Stars: 222-5, runrate=4.35 (1st Inn: 336-10)
Lead by 238 runs. (Quatt boys 320-10)

Burns 4-1-31-0
Sookram* 95 (129 balls)
Cook 34 (36 balls)

Last Wicket: Stanton Hit Wicket b. Forrest 3 (FOW: 146/5)

Nice knock between Waterhouse and Sookram really helped earlier!

Since then ...

End of Over 18 (Maiden). Quatt boys: 45-4, runrate=2.50 (1st Inn: 320-10)
Trail by 193 runs. (General Stars 336-10 & 222-5 dec)
Overs left today: 27
Guy 1-1-0-1
Salahuddin* 3 (4 balls)
Windsor 0 (1 balls)

Last Wicket: Loyal b. Guy 27 (FOW: 45/4)

Might have left the declaration a little late as scored too slowly but hey ho!

Kev

And that's the end of the match. Southend won by 60 runs.

End of Over 79 (1 runs). the_yak_pack: 244-10, runrate=3.09 (1st Inn: 248-10)
Trail by 60 runs. (Southend 301-10 & 251-3 dec)
Overs left today: 13
Rautenbach 13-2-37-4
Kirk* 77 (123 balls)
Last Wicket: Schofield c. Tsietsi b. Rautenbach 1 (FOW: 244/10)

Much needed victory. Gate receipts were under 150k for the first day, and have had 20 or so members leave in the past fortnight.

I almost called this correctly. Was bowled out for 188 despite an unbeaten ton from Mckie leaving opps 155 to win. I then skittled them out for 88 gaining my first ever masterful bowling rating along the way. 2nd win of the season and it won't prevent relegation. Opps were third and with top team drawing would have gone 2nd with next to no points separating top 3. As it is I have killed off promotion for them. I like my tactics in this game. One for the memory bank when I return to this level.

Fell 4 wickets short. Bit frustrating but cant grumble at just over a third of a million quid into the bank and helps the transfer fund!

Kev

Thought I'd post my ratings on here - pants in comparison to you big boys but it makes me feel better :D
