FC - Week 1

Have never known me to score so slowly, still the fact i haven't lost a wicket yet is a bonus. Not having much luck dipping into the transfer market yet!! Prices really esculating.

Trail by 305 runs. (MG Kippers 366-10)
Overs left today: 85

Benfield* 50 (90 balls)
Love 2 (4 balls)

Last Wicket: Camp c. Raven b. Deane 38 (FOW: 115/2)

Slow progress on batting front and slow process on the wicket taking front, so a draw is still odds on, im afraid!

Kev

No doubt heading for a draw as long as I don't collapse.

The players are off the field for tea.

Last Wicket: Stride c. Boyce b. Hinshelwood 52 (FOW: 93/1)

Cue collapse. Last recognised batsmen in at the mo, after that I give it 5 overs max before I'm bowling again. I guess it will largely depend on how much of a target he wants to set against how much time he wants to give himself to get the 10 wickets. The classic cricket question!! Of course do I settle for a draw, or go all out attack bowling and batting tomorrow to go for the win!!! lol

End of Over 92 (7 runs). The Flying Scotsmen: 248-5, runrate=2.70
Trail by 118 runs. (MG Kippers 366-10)
Overs left today: 22
Whiting 19-2-56-3
Sansom* 4 (4 balls)
Rowson 30 (48 balls)

Last Wicket: Salmon lbw b. Whiting 0 (FOW: 238/5)

After my total of 349, i bowled them out for 288 which took up 95 overs of the day so not alot of time to force a result. I close on 24-0 and the chances of me winning this are slim and the draw is still odds on. Will probably look to bat out tomorrow and not go crazy on trying to win and knackering out the important bowlers as they all did 14-22 overs today! Raven stood out with 7!

Kev

I'll be starting day 3 on 40-0 needing another 191 runs for victory. After bowling Tioman out for 267 I was hopeful of a decent 1st innings lead but after a woeful batting performance we posted 187 ao in 53 overs. Only Captain Williams with an innings-saving 113* and a 62-ball 20 from Shashidhar and a 27-ball 0 from Sharma offered any real support. We were still 80 behind so we couldn't concede too many runs but needed to get them out reasonably quickly and we bowled them out for 151 in 65 overs. N.Williams 8-65 in the match.

Finished the day on 179-2, still 58 behind. Going to need a good effort to avoid defeat in this one.

Mrs BB has a great chance of forcing a win now, after a good day yesterday. She's 232-2 in her 2nd innings, a lead of 118. So she's looking to rack up another 150 and then try and bowl them out.

An interesting day in store for myself. I set my bowlers to "very attacking" in the hope of a) bowling him out quickly enough to have a chase or b) hoping he sets a low declaration target to give him time to bowl me out and thereby allowing him to get the runs quicker therefore giving me more time to get the runs.

All this could of course backfire and could end up losing the game as a result. Still makes it a bit more exciting.

Given the rate at which he's scoring this morning, I have a feeling he has set his batsmen to "very attacking". 39 runs conceded from 5 overs!!!!

3 bats left, these 2 and Schoeman, and they need to gat at least 200 between them if we're going to avoid defeat.

A good day yesterday, making the dec target and getting them to 59/6, and finished today quite quickly.

And that's the end of the match. Southend United won by an innings and 128 runs.

What a yorker. It swung late and demolished leg stump. A happy Wright catches the bail and holds it up to the applauding crowd.

Sipho 0 (7 balls)

Last Wicket: Murdoch lbw b. Bishop 16 (FOW: 285/6)

As I thought he declared with a lead of 253, which means I need to score at 3.2 runs an over to get the win which would have been no problem last year but more realistically I'm going to have to bat out the 81 overs left in the day. Not particularly fancying my chances but we'll see.

End of Over 2 (2 runs). The Flying Scotsmen: 2-0, runrate=1.00 (1st Inn: 294-10)

Last Wicket: Sookram lbw b. Hodgson 1 (FOW: 130/3)

Never been so happy that Sookram managed just one!! He was at invig yesterday evening so didn't want him doing too well tomorrow. Think i've declared for 270 odd (if i make it) but i should bat the majority of the day.
