1971-72. Blue shirt, blue shorts with two white stripes, white socks. Classic kit (similar to 2013-14) and classic team.

good kit kev,but a lot of the late 60S to mid 70S kit were good..did like the ,i think 68-69 kit?? looked like scotland& the away kit was the same but red. we ,prittlewell united played in that red kit,in the mid-late 70s..given to us from sufc, coz we also now&then were/played for the supporters club. wish i knew now where that shirt was..would buy one..see you in august kev

I think it was at the end of the 68-69 season (Scotland style strip) that we borrowed kits from other clubs ..WBA, Chelsea, Cov City..and wore them. Supporters voted for the following season's shirt. WBA shirt won and we wore in 69-70.
I was very young (6) and so it is all a bit of hazey memory.

I think the new shirt looks ok in the Barry Corr pic and will evolve into a classic look..circa 71-72.

So, it seems to be the custard splat kit of the year 1996-1998 that has been said the most as being your favourite ever SUFC kit! Good choice or not?

I'm with Kevin Hogg and Bolton Shrimper....classic royal blue etc, etc....memories of Bill Garner, Billy Best, Terry Johnson and Joe Jacques....how old am I ????

I suppose he/she responsible for the renamed 'custard splat' - it was called egg vomit in my group - made it memorable.
I guarantee it was none too popular with players.
Julian Hails diplomatically claimed it stood out. You're telling me; Tied to the top of cliffs it would have guided ships though fog.
I was hoping the retro shirt people would reproduce the butcher stripe shirts of 62-66. The 68 navy and WBA stripe (available) from the following year were naff.

I guess the likes of TOFFS are reticent about producing retro shirts for small teams like us given how few sales they would make. And let's face it, the ones they do offer for us are just re-badged Huddersfield and Scotland ones.

On the good old custard splat, I wrote this a while back: http://www.whoateallthepies.tv/kits...d-1996-98-the-bart-simpson-custard-splat.html

Home: The Chevron kit from couple seasons ago. Never actually liked chevrons on shirts before then
Away: The red zig-zag kit during the Custard-Splat season. It was an unusual design but it worked
The Red with yellow pin-stripe from the 95/96 season is also a favourite.

Looking at the Historical Kits site, next season is apparently our 10th Anniversary season with Nike - you would have thought they could have used that to make a better kit

I liked the yellow away kit 1990/91.

I had that one but seem to have lost it although still have the home shirt from the same year.

I also like last seasons, big fan of white sleeves.

I'd go for any shirt design personally as long as we had plain white shorts and socks. Blues shorts makes us look like a poor mans chelsea.

For me it's the 68-69 Navy Blue that I saw for my first few games at the Hall. Navy has always been the club colour for me
