Favourite Southend XI regardless of talent.

FATSHRIMP good point about tilly, he was a good player for us no doubt but there has been a few that just pip him to the team and webb took us to the top of the championship (then div 2 of course) which again just beats his back to back promotions obviously relegation from champ counted against

I wasn't calling for his inclusion. But there is a 'tilly can do no wrong' element on here, so was merely expressing surprise.

I'd go with:

Royce
Jupp
Powell
Sodje
Barret
Gower
McCormack
Marsh
Otulakowski
Collymore
Eastwood

I guess most of my personal favourites were amongst the more talented players we've had in our time here...

Apart from in central midfield it was pretty tough to pick from the hundreds of players who've thrilled me over the last 38 years. Time and my memory are probably a little unkind to some who'll come to mind over the next couple of days.

Not exactly, no...

:thump: :p

Ronnie. He may have been old, but my goodness he still had it.

:D

I think his two years as manager have clouded people's memories of just how good Ronnie Whelan was in his one season on the pitch. Ok, he couldn't move very far, but he could certainly pass a football.
