Memory Lane Favourite Southend landmark - past or present.

Blimey I forgot about Downtown records......Now thinking back it was where I first ordered "Blues and Soul" magazine........I was way ahead of my time you see....The Zero 6 was trying to rock......The Alpha 2 had gone... we had TOTS.

Just remembered Ryan's Records, bit of a dodgy second hand record shop at the top of Vic Circus, near where the escalator was down to the station. Got my copy of The Faces' "Stay With Me" from there which has a cracking B-side, "Debris." Remember the guy in there who used to chew on match-sticks, sure he used to wear a trilby too...amazing what memories come back to you when you can't sleep!

I remember that shop Rob, but thought it was called Paul's Records.

It may have been before I went there, Harry! :) When I went there, in the glorious summer of 1972 and beyond, I'm sure it was called Ryan's Records. Maybe it was owned by brothers - Paul and Barry! :clap:
