I've got better things to be doing with my mornings than trying to wind up Southend fans for absolutely no reason.

Nope it isn't Shaun Goater - could well be Chisnall but again I'm not sure if Stockport corresponds to the area I mentioned in the OP.

My money's on Chisnall ... and they've mixed up Stockport and Southport with the flags.

Can't be anyone very 'stellar', only players who really fall into that catagory that have played for us either at the start or end of their careers who most footy fans would know of are Stan, The Goat, Whelan, Southall, Ricketts, Mike Marsh and maybe Chris Powell, and none of them fit.

As already mentioned, the only one I can think of who comes close geographically is Peter Clarke but he's hardly 'stellar' or particularly well known.

Oh well, better do some work!

possibly. but he's only famous because of the Man U/Liverpool transfer. Hardly a world-beater.

Bingo, I'm thinking the fact the two are scheduled to play tomorrow is relevant in the answer being Chisnall.

Well done to the first bloke who said Chisnall and well done to the rest of you for trying to help me.

Good luck with the rest your season.

Cheers.

Hi there.

I'm looking for a player who may have played for Southend down the years. I don't know the name of the player, just the teams he possibly played for.

This player only played for four clubs during his whole career and one of team is likely to be Southend. I'm aware this doesn't narrow the list much so I'll simplify it.

* It's a well known player, a name who any Footie fan would know immediately.
* He's only played for four in his career and apart from Southend they're all around the Liverpool/Manchester/Bolton area of England, clubs in and around that area.

I realise this is very little information, but the best tip I can give is that it definitely won't be an obscure name, it'll be a well known footballer who most likely didn't spend the twilight of his career with The Shrimpers.

If you have an idea of who this is it'll help me alot if you could try help, cheers.

Can i ask why?

Thank you, now where is my Prize?

Pointless question and not sure why I am bothering to post a reply.
The question posed is similar to listening to a drunk telling a joke and forgetting the punchline.

Well i think the pub quiz will be long finished by now so hopefully the OP will have managed to get his answer back to the questionmaster in time :smiles:

I think he featured in the first ever Match of the Day too !

Yes he did. Liverpool beat Arsenal 3-2.

3 Ronnie Moran
4 Gordon Milne
5 Ron Yeats
6 Willie Stevenson
7 Ian Callaghan
8 Roger Hunt
9 Phil Chisnall
10 Gordon Wallace
11 Peter Thompson

That line-up looks a little vulnerable down their left-hand side. I'd have definitely targetted the toddler playing left-back.
