Family Days!!

Is it just me or do these family days at roots hall wind you up.

I spent the most of the game with 2 kids in front of me waving and whacking each other with a balloon, then they started a fight with each other while the mum and her mate moaned about the burgers, not once did they watch the game and both wore wet spam shirts, they left with 25 mins to go 'cos it was boring' it was 3-2 for gods sake.

This is all after arguing with a mum and her 2 kids and hubby after southend ticket office had sold my season ticket seats to her clan!!!

Along with kids the row behind popping balloons in your ear!

And all came to see Journey south, whatta loada ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are important to ensure we continue to create new supporters for the future.

I however dont have to put up with them as they dont go in the east, however one bloke had brought a 2 year old which was a bit daft as the toddler certainly was too young to be interested in football.

PS Yes it was 3-2, but the most boring 3-2 Ive seen. Got better in the second half but Ive seen better 1-0's :)

Just maybe her Kids will come back and support there local club Southend United FC when the grow up

So YES they are a very good idea....

Ok im off

Just seems unfortunate they got to seat around you.
These family days are the ideal chance for fans to take their kids. Normally it would cost me £60, but these days bring it down to £30.

No problems round by where I was in West S, and my kids sit down and watch the football...possibly like the majority.

Completely agree, the majority do sit and watch my 7 yr old does, but it just seems all the ****s sit round me, i must attract them:D

I know they are great for raising clubs profile and making familys able to go but why dont some PARENTS control their offspring, if that was my kids jumping up and down and fighting while everyone else around them was peeed off with it, i would give them as good old fashioned slap :D dont they feel embarrassed

i take kids every game and find the family days the most annoying games of the season. it appears the parents are only taking the kids because of the deals on offer and not many return and none seem interested in the football. saw more kids with west ham shirts than i have at roots hall for a long time, bar when we played them.

Agree with the boring 3-2, Saturday although full of goals wasn't a great spectacle not that i mind 3 points is more important than pretty football.

I think the football match at the end always spoils these family days. Instead of third rate football why not have more singers, a bouncy castle or even a puppet show for the kids?

We got the 3rd highest gate in our division on Saturday. Baring in mind we were beaten by Leeds & Forest I think it goes someway to showing why these are essential.

They are a pain but I sit surrounded by a load of season ticket holers so luckily I dont see a lot of them. I do however know two fans who have come to support Southend off the back of these family days so i think they are a cracking idea and fully support the club for them - Except the day we had Chico who was terrible and made my ears bleed.

That applies to non-football situations too these days.

Im not the strictest of parent but I always ensure my kids arent behaving in a way that would affect other people.

Werent like this in my day I can tell ya....

I was more annoyed with the guy in front of me who had a go at me when i questioned why people clap when the attendance is announced (why do people do this???).

Apparently i need to learn to 'keep my opinions to myself'. I didn't even realise i'd been offensive.

I would rather have sat next to the kids!

i never acknoledge the attendance because most people there arnt real fans. i acknoledge the fans that come to all matches no matter who we play. whether its man u away or hartlepool away.

I know, disgraceful.

Of course. My comments were said as a joke really. This guy took it far too seriously.

tbh mate we've seen our attendance mores than double in 3 years.... personally I feel it's not my place to judge whether someone is a 'real fan' or not. If they come and watch us play when they can then that's fine by me.

Care to come up & assist me with an ongoing battle I'm having with a bunch of kids from down the road playing on our private driveway just now then?

You can't even threaten them with "I'm going to tell your Dad" as they just know he wouldn't give a flying f**k anyway. Definitely straight out of the "they're out of my house, so I couldn't give a monkeys about what they're up to" school of parenting!!!

I'm a season ticket holder. My eight year old and my three year old also have season tickets. We come to nearly every home game and this year my eight year old wants to start going to away games too, his main choice being Millwall, god help us!

Do they concentrate fully during every game? No, obviously. Do they support the team? Absolutely.

Kids are the lifeblood of any team. They're annoying, some of them aren't really interested but we need them for the future and I want to applaud the club for all the initiatives that they are introducing to get children interested in the club.

I agree totally mate, my brothers were 9 and 4 and I was 7 when we started going to Southend games in1986 and we're still going now, getting them when they're young has always worked.
