FA Trophy Darlington - travel, pubs etc.

Darlo have put five past Scarborough today and are going well. I think it will be between them, King's Lynn, Brackley and maybe Fylde for the NLN title.

And they took 820 in travelling support. Great numbers at the level below us.

Looking like they could weill have more than Bromley brought to us on Boxing day for our mid week tie.

Bromley FC

🏆

George Brown had won the Amateur Cup with Bromley in 1938.

Last but not least...Bromley will forever be known as the club that won the first FA Amateur Cup final at Wembley in 1949. A crowd of 90,000 watched them beat Romford by a single goal.

But the man who ranked among the post-war amateur greats was George Brown, the club’s centre forward and a future England amateur captain. Brown, a tough and daunting centre forward, played for the club from 1938 to 1961, scoring 570 goals in the process. In 1948-49, he netted 129 times and on 13 occasions, grabbed three or more.

Only about 1 1/2 hrs from Darlo to Scarboro, but wouldn't be surprised if they mustered around 300-400 for the game down here.
Agreed, but it's only about an hour and a half to Bromley or Barnet where we had large attendances and you would argue that Darlo are a smaller team than us, although a proper ex-league team so pro rata 820 to Scarborough is there or thereabouts with our 1,000 plus to the aforementioned clubs.

I'm not questioning our fantastic away support, just estimating their following for a journey which won't get much change out of 5 hrs.
Darlington are ( & have always been ) a smaller club than us, but they muster up numbers for 'big' away games. Only a season or 2 ago, they took 100's to Walsall for an FA cup game.

Walsall 2 Darlington 2 FA cup 1st round Nov 2019. Attendance 2,882 with 1,229 Darlington.

Be nice to see decent away support at Roots Hall.
