Can't agree with that, cup runs often engender spirit and confidence in the team Lose at Macc and then against Charlton in the JPT the following Tuesday then all we've got to look forward to is a long hard winter.

Point taken, but IF a cup run happens, how much focus for the league will be lost on the FA cup, not to mention more games. If we lose to Macc in the FA cup, what will that do to team spirit.

When Tilson took over we aere struggling in this division and were facing the prospect of relegation, the run to Cardiff in the LDV raised spirits on and off the pitch and the threat of the drop was easily avoided in the end. I'm sure a few extra matches will be favoured by the players as opposed to training day to day.

Absolutely this^

So much for the FA Cup being a money spinner, if we lose this game the club will probably make a loss on the tie as our share of the gate will be less than travelling/hotel costs etc (presuming Ron actually pays hotel bills). The gate could well be the lowest of the whole 40 ties!

What a load of ****.couldn't of been much worse. The excitement continues.

Virtually any League One side away?...............or at home, for that matter. A high flying Conference side to provide a banana skin for us to embarrassingly slip on?
Honestly, with our present inconsistency, there were not too many sides we could have faced with confidence at the moment. Our one saving grace, is that, so far, we have performed pretty well in Cup competitions this season.............let's hope it will continue.

Disappointed as are most, can't even claim a new ground out of this draw. And after yesterday's horrific traffic, not looking forward to yet another journey up the M6 again so soon.

Can you imagine the players' reaction? A right hike up the M6 - even if it is Friday - and a long journey back. There would be more pride in making sure they didn't go out to a non-league side.
And I can't make my mind up whether it's a good thing where the draw takes in everybody - or a regionalised version as experimented with in the past, making sure no-one goes too far to get beaten.

Who cares it's my duty to attend and I shall do my duty for my club!!!

Come on Southend !!!!!

I think travel costs for cup games are covered by additional expenses & will not come out of our share of the 45% of the gate receipts. Good job as I agree it could well be one of the lowest crowds of the first round and unless its 5-5 thriller its nailed on to be the last match shown in the FA Cup highlights show!

Not exactly going to pull the support in is it?

The only thing that catches the eyes of our fans are any team in the prem..........I like this draw and as scott said am there to support SUFC and not the other side
