FA Cup Final

The derby?! The teams have only played each TWICE in the league! Hardly the basis for a classic derby spectacular!

Am delighted to be honest. XS, this is a Southend board as you know, no need to lecture us about slagging off a side many people dislike.

As with SITP, I didn't really have a preference for this game, and I just wanted to watch a cracking game of footy. It didn't disappoint. Commiserations to the Hammers, who I thought deserved the win, but also kudos to both teams for their never say die attitude.

As for the hatred of Spammers, I can well undersdtand it - they have a LOT of very arrogant fans. I have encountered many who, on overhearing a conversation about Southend, butt in telling me how we are small fry and irrelevant because they are in the Premier$hite.

just got back from the pub. quality game, I found myself singing bubbles at the end and teddy teddy in the shootout. When i said i was a Southend Fan to a Wet Wham het said He he upm0orst respect.

Very pised night nithg.

I appreciate that. But as I come from three generations of West Ham United fans (stretching way back to Thames Ironworks) and having been christened with a West Ham rosette on my bib back in the 60s, I have a strong affinity to the Hammers and I can't see the where this perceieved rivalry comes from. It's mostly one-way from Southend anyway, the vast majority of West Ham couldn't give a monkey's about the Shrimpers as they couldn't about someone like, say, Cambridge United. Demographics had played a large role in developing such a perception but, in my experience, all of my family and just about every West Ham fan I know have the utmost respect for Southend United and what they have achieved in the past couple of years. Rivalry has to be two-way or it simply doesn't work ...

All this crap you post and negativity about Southend finaly makes sense.

Favourite bit for me was Sacaloni putting the ball out of play in the last minute because of yet another case of cramp for a Liverpool player. Scaloni knew full-well that Liverpool would have to throw the ball back to West Ham, and there he is thinking "that will waste a bit more time". So what happend Liverpool throw the ball back to Scaloni, who completely cocks-up his clearance straight to a Liverpool player, and three seconds later Gerrard "THUMP" 3-3. Get in.

With family that is West Ham I was delighted they lost. I watched the Hearts v Gretna game until about 10 minutes from the end and then flicked back to watch the penalties from Hampden.

I was over Priory Park at 3pm and there was a bloke over there in his West Ham shirt which I found strange as its their biggest game for donkeys years and he goes out for a walk.
