Expectations

We were already under the embargo, the staff management, suppliers and players already were in arrears, whilst we were successful in our trips to the High Court.

Up until yesterday no one knew if we would be out of the embargo, On each occasion we went to the high court no one knew we wouldn't be wound up or put into administration, the non payment of people isn't something to be brushed aside, just because thats the way it had already been. Its a shame that no one really cares now about the non payment which going by the printer in the finacial forum is still going on, as long as we have a team!!!

At no time during the off season have you wondered what the hell is going on or going to happen to our club?

I'm not saying the club's in a good position, but IMO there haven't really been bad developments over the summer that have put the club in a worse position.

So basically we're all hoping for a Stockport victory today to launch our title bid??

THe better the thumping we get the easier we will win the league apparently.

I really dont get this superstitious rubbish, theres only 3 outcomes to any game so in any given season, promotion or not, theres a pretty good chance we would lose the first game.

The sooner we win a game the better as a new team needs to find its self confidence quickly.

The day is finally here! Dunno about you, but this has felt like the longest close season ever.

In that time a lot has happened, some good and some very bad. Today we have an almost unrecognisable squad and new management. It will feel very strange when they run out on the pitch and everyone in the stands is trying to work out who is who.

However I guess most, like me, are excited about the coming season. We have a strong squad and a quality manager, and so expectations may even be a little high. We have to bear in mind that a lot of the players don't know each other, and we have seen plenty of times that it takes players a bit of time to hit the ground (with others however they can make an immediate impact with a hattrick on debut!).

So many times we've heard players say how much of a difference the crowd make. Let's make sure that whatever happens today, that we get right behind them. Let's make then feel welcome, and lets give them time to find their feet.

Up the blues!!

for once your talking sense. it goins to be a really interesting day. after seeing nearly all of our pre season games we have actually played really well so cannot wait to get things started. I have so far been so impressed with sturrock. he demands respect which i like and am looking forward to hearing his post match interview. hopefully reporting about 3 points gained.

up the blues

Southend expects!!!!!

Come on you blues............ave this game and ave the season!

Other teams wont know what to expect......or whats hit them!

Believe!!!!!!

I will be looking to see if they are having a bit of a laugh in the warm up and seem to be enjoying themselves or if they look tense and unsure of each other. I know relationships take time but if theres a joker in the dressing room that always helps to mold a team spirit and relax the atmosphere. Will be looking to see as well if the younger guys feel intimidated by some of the older heads, as i feel a few did last season with Macca or whether there is a mutual respect without condemnation if one of them makes a slipup.

I'm just glad we are starting the season at the moment, I haven't got really any expectations but I think we will be hard to beat probably won't score many goals but won't concede many either.
