Why do we not give our team the praise they deserve!!.

Two decent teams played away, five goals scored. none against. and they worked there socks off for each other.
Both games more or less won by half time. Against teams we controlled who have good records.
Yes we controlled and sat back and soaked up pressure. Did not have a goal scored against us.
Give the team credit not say other teams were poor!
Southend are a good team especially at this level. Consitancy will come. If we dont get a lot injury's.
If so we will be totally in the mix come MAY.
Well said sir!! I am tired of banging on about the knockers ( Not those ones!) It will always happen in a football club unfortunately. I personally am delighted with the team and the manager, obviously others see it differently. Hey Ho. COYSuperBB.

We are clearly seeing how just a little bit of extra commitment, cohesion and luck(e.g.we regularly see hopelessly inept officials here and in higher divisions who can change any match-my other team is WBA!)make all the difference in a very tight division. Also the first goal is SO important - our 2 recent defeats v Newport and Dagenham were triggered by Bentley's howlers.

My first view of the team in the Brown era as I now live in Devon and I have to say I was impressed. We completely bossed the midfield were first to every ball and were passing the ball well. Defensively solid and Prosser won pretty much everything in the air against Parkin (is he really a footballer?).Forwards worked really hard and gave their defence no time on the ball.
All in all a really good performance and if the team can play consistently like this they must be in with a big chance of Automatic promotion. Looking forward now to the Torquay game.

One of the truly great things is that in the last few games we have seen player changes and positional changes for players and yet not one drop of cohesion lost. We have a small squad but a good number of 'slot me in anywhere and I will play' players. For me, much of it is down to the system we are playing. Whoever is on the pitch and wherever they are on the pitch they know the role they have to play in this system. Excellent!

If we are spared too many injuries and suspensions then just imagine what a unit this will be as the season wears on.

Are we reading the same thread? There's not a negative comment on here and nothing but praise for the team...

We made Exeter look poor, like we made Mansfield look poor.

We hassled everything, chased everything and were Germanesque in our organisation. Superb performance from everyone. And Ryan Leonard is turning into a top, top player.

That can't possibly be true, I thought we wouldn't have a chance of promotion with Leonard being a regular? :winking:

It means, if he gets a regular berth in the side, I don't think we'll have the proverbial snowball in hell's chance of promotion next season.

We look a very compact and hard working side now, with some very good players within the squad,i was chuffed to bits at the final whistle with the obvious bonding of our players and supporters long may it continue.UTB

I was going to write a "hold on a minute - let's keep our feet on the floor" style comment but have decided instead to simply say "long may it continue".

Full praise to the fans that went all the way ............. if you know what I mean.

Very good game yesterday, worth the money and a very long train journey there and back! We looked complete and the players looked top draw, the passion as well was great especially Dan Bentley and John White when we scored. Worth the £35 I spent overall on the day. Does anyone know all the words to that John White song?

Is that all for a ticket to the game, travel there and back, beer and food. What a cheap day out

Thread suggests we should have some player ratings...... Anyone who went fancy letting us know their thoughts?

Ha ha, where's that quote from?

We've looked a far better team with Timlin and Leonard in than out for the last couple of seasons. I'm pretty sure the stats back that up as well.

Last season (12/13)

With Leonard = 40% win ratio
Without Leonard = 33% win ratio

With Timlin = 51% win ratio
Without Timlin = 13% win ratio

2011/12 season

With Leonard = 61% win ratio
Without Leonard = 46% win ratio

With Timlin = 53% win ratio
Without Timlin = 40% win ratio

So far this season

Leonard has only missed 2 fixtures, the cup defeats to Yeovil and Dagenham.

A very comfortable win over a very poor nervy side. I do not want to deride our performance but we really did not have to get out of second gear. Only in the second half were we tested a little but Dan Bentley did not have an awful lot to do. What encourages me at the moment is how strong our bench is now looking, when you can bring on Phillips, Laird and Corr ( the spine of our probable best 11) it really augers well for the rest of the season and should inspire those to fight for the shirt. Also Eastwood and Clifford to add to the mix shortly, it really is a strong 20. Bentley 7 - Competent and assured , kicking again a bit off, 4 or 5 kicks straight out for throw-ins. White 7 - As consistent as ever, competent display never really stretched. Kiernan 7.5 - Fantastic loan capture, cannot remember a mistake all game. Prosser 7.5 - Got his head to everything, distribution back to finding channels though instead of feet. Coker 7 - A quieter game, not so involved but again error free. Atkinson 7 - Did his share of work and running not so prominent as the other 2 central midfielders. Leonard 7.5 - Really starting to pull the strings in the anchor role on a consistent basis. Timlin 8- MOTM Back to his best, his reading of the game and timing of interceptions was a key factor in the win. Hurst 7 - Played his part, most of the play appeared to be on the opposite side of the pitch. Woodrow 7 - Worked hard in the central role although lacked a bit of physical presence but added pace. Straker 7.5 - Had a lot of work to do, mesmerised at times, also lacked a killer instinct when had worked some great space for a shot a couple of times. Corr 6 - Looked off the pace and obviously not a 100% after illness. Laird 6.5 - Put himself about in short time was on. Phillips 6 - Only on for five minutes or so, did what had to. Now we have worked our way back into contention just hope do not follow previous runs of wins this season with a couple of defeats. Think not with absentees returning, squad looking stronger and some winnable games coming up. UTB

Good stuff

Greta to win so comfortably but I wouldn't get too carried away with the performance. We were loads better against Mansfield and our finishing could do with improving. It's possible both goals were own goals. I'd like to see Seedy and Craig Reid getting more of a run out as subs.

Bentley 8 - some dodgy distribution but was quick off his line when needed and was always one step ahead of their strikers
Coker 7 - assures, pacy and dangerous as usual but wasn't in the thick of things
White 8 - reads the game v well. Excellent cross for the first goal
Prosser 8 - won everything in the air, even made some passes on the ground!
Kiernan 7.5 - in control, developing a great partnership with Prosser.
Timlin 8.5 - Possible MOTM. Unbelievable workrate. Hassled and harried all day.
Atkinson 7 - Worked really hard but didn't get into the game as much as the rest of midfield
Leonard 7.5 - Mr consistent. shielded the back 4 and made some incisive passes
Hurst 7.5 - had quiet periods but looked a threat in the final third
Straker 8 - He was all over the shop again and they couldn't deal with him.
Woodrow 7 - looked a bit lightweight and didn't show the enthusiasm that most of the team showed

Subs
Corr 6.5 - didn't win many headers or look much of threat
Phillips and Laird 7 - fine in the short time they were on
