My father in law and his twin brother were Peter and Paul, my sister in law was called Paula after her uncle.

no worries Dave, I think it's a brilliant name. It's a name you want to say over and over again.

"My mate Dave..." sounds better than "My mate David...."

Yeah thats very true, I agree that does sound better but when you're in a pub or something and you want to get his attention - continually shouting "Dave" could be irritating to anyone in the room! The thing with it is that there is no way to jazz it up! Davros is a good shout! I think its actually the Essex accent that makes Dave sound common and boring actually. If you could imagine for example Lorraine Kelly saying it with her sweet little accent then it would prob sort the problem out!

lol that's also very true!

I get irritated when someone yells "ooooww" after hurting themselves and I always turn round looking for the direction of the voice but usually find someone hopping on one foot and cursing or something.

Do all Dave's cover up mould with butter for their misses sandwiches ;)

I was originally born with the name 'david' it was only my adoption that changed my name to Nick....

I am also good friends with a band in Maidstone called 'the Spice Daves'....

most of my wifes' cousins are called David....from Wales boyo.....no imagination, them Welsh!

2 weeks back my 6 aside football team feature 3 daves and a Paul...
I play 11 a side with 5 James's and we are reffed at home by a James too.

Leads onto another question. In 20 years time will there be any kids in schools with names like Dave, Paul, John, James and Steve or will it be a register full of ridiculous names? I realise a lot of older names like Jack, George and Alfie have come back to prominence however there's far too many poncy names being allocated to babies these days and I feel that the backbone of society will crumble when this generation's names become our industry leaders.

Dave is actually quite a boring name is it not? Not that I think my name is exciting...... However, I assume most Daves are called David which doesnt have to same dulcett tone as "Dave". Perhaps all you Daves out there should re-invent yourselves as Davids - sounds a bit more exciting than Dave hmmmm??
How dare you,all davids are cool honest sophisticated and very sexy.
