Hope not, I sold the total goal minutes for the tournament at 3720. Was £250 up before the Dutch game. If we get another one of those I could be looking at a massive loss.

Absolutely ridiculous. Should have taken the £250 but the bet goes bad with all these late goals. I cant believe 5 games in the last 6 have had a 90th minute goal.
Its worse than a disaster.

Well Ive shut my spreadbet so that means goal minutes are bound to be short. Back a few 0-0's, the tournament cant keep having late late goals

After I won the over 2.5 goals bet in the Germany game I put £24 on the draw in the Austria game so you can imagin how happy I was to see that penalty being given! That got me up to £80 profit for today.

Italy to beat Romania

With the £100 loss in the other bet (Germany arn't going to win now) thats a £44 win. Phew

This is probably the single most frustrating part of betting. You recognise that the defences are bad but get greedy (over 3.5 goals). Your pal who's less greedy, backs over 2.5 goals and the bet comes in!

Still, the cheeky last minute penalty meant I won our staff Taikai tournament with a correct score so all in all only about £20 down yesterday.

BIG bet if the stats are to be believed today. Not only are Italy too short based on the merits of their perfoormances in the last couple of years but Romania should be considered 2.3 favourites to win the match. To be honest, I can see some truth in this as well. Romania were as good as France in the last game while Italy floundered aganist Netherlands. For all of Netherlands' good play, there was terrible defending by the Italians to complement it. If the Italians get drawn out too much then they could well get picked off. Very tempted by Romania winning both halves at 37ish.

The other game should be a borefest and I'm going in at under 1.5 goals. France won't let Netherlands play as much as Italy.

I would be inclined to suggest there may be more actually. The majority of late goals come from one team piling on pressure as they either get their goal or get picked off on the counter attack. The stakes are getting higher with teams on the verge of going out so I expect to see more late pressing and more late goals.

You may well be right, but in the last 6 games, there have been 5 goals in the 86th minute or later. Surely the law of averages says this can’t continue.
Makes no difference to me now, Ive lost too much money to try and go chasing it.

Ok, ok. The use of "more" was a bit liberal!

I tend to stay away from goal minutes as I can't really work out what would make a tournament more likely to have late goals. I suppose a big difference between the fitness of two teams or a large number of predatory strikers.

If I were you the hardest one to take would be Spain Russia. That game went crazy with twenty to go.

Yep it was awful. It also ruins any enjoyment of watching the matches especially when a 90th minute goal can cost you 90 quid. I watched the end of the Spain game. Bloke has a shot and you think oh no, keeper blocks it, massive relief, Fabregas heads it in, despair.

Yep, it's been a robbery and the odds are much closer to the mark than the stats. However, having survived the onslaught, Romania have to come out and play better. They've not been unduly pressed and they're giving th ball away too cheaply. When they keep it there's plenty of room on the left to attack.

Still have to fancy Italy after that half but I think the longer it goes on the more the Italians will panic about goin out and Romania have the pace to catch them out. If we hit 60 at 0-0, it could get very tricky for the Italians.

God I'm getting worse at this even if Romania almost did win. The second shout is a real shocker.
