There has been some speculation on here that Spicer should be given another chance. Csboy or anyone else at the game, did the spice boy put in a performance to warrant a recall?

Just comeback from the game. Perhaps one of the worst referring decisions I have ever seen. Not only offside but their guy clearly handled the ball and the ref then gave a free kick for the back pass!!
As for the game itself we had plenty of chances but couldn't take them. There was a guy who played at number 10 for us who was the spitting image of Freddie Eastwood but certainly played nothing like how he once played for us.

We also had a no 9 who was the spitting image of Benyon who played exactly like he's always played for us; Harris in midfield was very poor too.

As for "one of the worst decisions", I really don't think so. The referee played advantage as we had the ball in no danger. The player in possession passed the ball to the keeper who picked it up. I personally would have probably pulled back the advantage (which you shouldn't do really if the advantage is lost through a mistake!) but the referee was correct by the Laws of the Game.

I went and it was a very poor performance from our lads.Abbey as you would expect wanted it more, and really stuck too their task.Gotta give them credit.

Professional clubs shouldn't even be in this competition, thoroughly pointless exercise unless you have a good academy or large squad!

Apparently the lino flagged for offside so bentley picked the ball up, the ref pull him up for the back pass and awarded an 8yard free kick from which they scored... great reffing!

Thats Bentleys fault, not the refs.

If the ref let play go on then its Bentleys mistake.

Play to the whistle is about as basic as it gets.

Happened in the home game v Oxford as well - was going off for a throw, lino hadnt flagged yet, Clohessy caught it, went to throw, ref gave free kick for handball. Bit harsh but they should have played to whistle.

Good to see you refs sticking together.:winking:

Went tonight as it is a home game for me, Sturrock, Cresswell, Leonard and Ben Reeves all turned up and stayed for the whole game.
I am afraid there was no one who played who gave Sturrock any hope of using them in the first team.
I think there will have to be a look around the loans available to try to get someone to replace Timlin.
Bentley made a couple of very good saves but was at fault in picking up the ball for the free kick as the ref had not blown, must learn to play to the whistle.

Strange from Bentley, dont understand why people are saying that he thought it was a free kick, when he picks the ball up he kicks it from his hands as if it was in play.... Very silly mistake, rather him get these out his system at this level though.

The thing that gets me is from that video the ref is watcing the whole back pass thing and doesnt give the indirect free kick until Waltham Abbey complain, he then went and consulted the lineman before giving it
