Essex CCC 2019

Cookie playing on for another season but maybe farewell to Ravi Bopara who is staying tight lipped about his future.
Keeping Simon Harmer is a must obviously and will be interesting who they go for to fill the overseas spot.
I think I must have mis-read that interview because I thought RB said he was keeping "tight lipped" on the future of the Knight

End of an era and sadly the start of the break up of the team that won us promotion then two titles and the Blast. I'd imagine RtD won't be too far behind and then maybe Cook. Hopefully Rishi Patel can step up (or maybe this is why Chopra was re-signed?) and turn it into a dynasty but those are massive shoes to fill.

Blimey, that;'s a shock. Must be a good reason?
I think he will mainly play white ball cricket this coming season and maybe Essex wanted him for red ball too and they couldn't come to an agreement.Says on Sussexs website that 20 20 is his priority now

Cookie is on record stating he is committed for at least one more season and he made that commitment to RtD so don’t know where you’re coming from.

How's that then?

I personally feel Ravi only got going in Sept
The row he had with Harmer because he wanted to bat higher is well known in T20
Getting to an age where he can earn I guess better money just playing One dayers and keep to a level which will be less demanding on his body .Essex have seen the best years and I believe will be no worse off
Just my opinion on the games I’ve watched, been a good servant to the club, but all things end
Thanks Ravi for the years

Start - as in beginning. Since the Grayson era ended this has been a very settled batting line-up with no vacancies but I'm expecting RtD to probably retire next year and maybe Cook the year after so there will be a lot of holes in that batting line-up to fill in quick succession.

Ravi has been a great servant to Essex I’m gutted to see him leave but I wish him all the best of luck. Having met him on numerous occasions when I was a member of the old virgin active gym next to the ground he is a top bloke. An Essex legend! And he’s left on a massive high.
