England away to South Africa

The draw is 1/14 now, we *should* be ok. Interesting stat here from TMS's Andrew Samson....

"England began the day batting with a lead and having lost no wickets. Only one team has lost a Test match from the same position. That was Port-of-Spain in 1968 when Garry Sobers made a silly declaration and England beat West Indies."

that's a bloody brilliant series win by us, and without a settled opener, proper number 3 or number 5!
imagine if we got the batting and spinning sorted

AB Devilliers gets another 2 ball duck .. and Jimmy gets him .. Karma of the highest level!

Really annoyed. I knew it would happen anyway. There was no fight, nothing. I wonder if we will stick with Hales, Taylor and Compton?

Even though it was a frustrating match, before the series, I would have taken a 2-1 overall win any day.

Kagiso Rabada is one hell of a bowler!

i wonder if we're kinda victims of our scheduling - when we play so many matches i wonder if they are able to get themselves motivated for dead games as against a team desperate to get a consolation win.

we are very inconsistent and we're very good when we're very good.

I'd keep Hales, Compton and Taylor. If they can't make runs against Sri Lanka at home they probably never will while South Africa away is a very tough assignment.

Finally Bairstow needs to work on his keeping, good to hear Cook really pull no punches in telling him as it is

Anyone who hasn't seen Stokes catch today, then look out for it on the highlights.

Quite extraordinary and the crowd were completely stunned by it, it was that good.

Was more impressed by his (and England's batting).

Can you believe less than a year ago we went into a world cup with Moores thinking Bell, Ballance and Taylor were better options than Roy, Hales and Stokes?

This England side scored in 30 overs what that side would have been pleased with in 50 overs.

Mind you, there are probably still people who despite the mounting evidence to the contrary hold onto the belief that Bell or Taylor should be in the side!

incredible batting and result against a top team. when does the t20 WC start?

Is Chris Jordan good enough? His bowling seems really expensive. Would Broad be a better option (and he has a few shots)?

Is Chris Jordan good enough?

No!

And despite everyone calling him one he's not an all-rounder. He's never scored a ton and doesn't even have a List A 50 to his name.

I'm so convinced that the idea of him is better than the reality I now suspect that Christopher is only his middle name as his first name will be Clairmonte and I keep waiting for him to take the field without a sun hat (or to pack 4kg of cocaine in his cricket bag).

Even on this he continues to frustrate.

Good fielder, mind.
