Encouraging interview

The saving grace of the matter is that we can realistically put large values on several players in our squad.

If we didn't have Fred and this concession was made then I would be worried because we wouldn't be able to offset the loss involved in relegation. As it is, I think that with Fred on the books and contracted, we've got a lot of money ('Work in Progress' if you like) tied up in Fred and one or two others.

I quite like Rm's approach as long as he can gett teh stadium building moving. If we can't then there really is no point in gambling to stay in the division, even for just a year or two. In contrast, if we can get a stadium in three or four years (stop sniggering at the back) then it seems like a claculated risk to me.

Anyway, I reckon Darryl's stock may be rising quite rapidly in this division as well and whilst last year I wouldn't have said we would command much of a fee for him,I think now we might be able to. At the same time, though, Gutts stock has definitely fallen. Then again, I think you can also point to the full backs, Clarke and Harrold (off the top of my head) who are all on long term contracts with the full backs both being in the Actim 100 for the Championship.

In short, it looks as though we are taking a risk but we seem to have the assets to cover the cost of failure and the potential future financial stability benefit to justify taking the chance.

If that is true, you are certainly not the only one worried by that news.

The idea that we are currently living beyond our means is terrifying. If we can't turn a profit on the back of our biggest crowds for at least two decades you have got to wonder if we'll ever be profitable. The team is currently on a 15 year high, and playing at a level we've only graced for a handful of the club's 100 years. Now is the time we should be reaping in profits.

My biggest fear isn't relegation, its Ron Martin going native and letting his heart rule his head. I'd rather the club had a future, than just a present.

Quote[/b] (shrimperian @ Sep. 18 2006,22:29)] It is illegal for an agent to represent both player and club.
and yet, it so often happens!
Actually, it doesnt, not anymore at least..... In order for an agent to be paid by the club, the players registration and contract have to be submitted and approved by the FA PRIOR to being signed by the player. The FA Approves them in principal and the deal is finalised with the agent getting his fee direct from the club. If the player signs the papers before they are submitted, the club can only pay the player and the FA check this very carefully. Of course, the player could then pay the agent but believe me, they do not as it would come out of their signing on fee. The modern way for clubs to interaxt with agents is for the club to invite the agent to discuss matters with their club solicitor etc., therefore negating the need for the club to have an agent effectively. Sorry to bore you with this but I wanted to get it straight because there is so much misinformation about this out there.
